I can't believe how fast time is going. It is now under a month until I leave for Australia! What with Christmas before, I don't think it has quite hit me that I'm actually going really soon! I'm getting slightly scared now really, but again excited at the same time...it's difficult to tell the difference. I'm waiting until the Christmas sales to buy my bits and pieces, I'll try and get some photos of my backpack up on here, hopefully it won't be bulging too much! Well that's the aim.... I've been told to put everything I want to take into a pile on my bed...then halve it! I will most probably buy some clothes out there anyway, as when I go to New Zealand in June it will be very very cold, and I don't ... read more

Hoorah! Have just got an email with my Electronic Tourist Visa for Australia. All systems go! At last! Now all I need to do is get my flight (one way to Sydney, Australia), travel insurance, insurance for my laptop and business essentials, pack my bags, kiss mum and dad good bye and begin a few years of adventure. Have just searched on the interet and found a flight on November 21st from London Heathrow for about £440 one way, so will probably buy that. At least that will give me a few days to pack my bags, tidy my room, and oragnise a few leaving drinks with the boys and girls of tropical essex before I head to warmer shores. Got an email from my mate Oli saying it's 35 degrees at the moment over there ... read more

Well the Visa fiasco continues! Not content with my bank account information showing I had about £10,000 in it, the Aussie immigratione people now want proof that I will have AUS$6,000 disposable per month! God knows why! They have said they will be OK with me getting my a signed letter stating my monthly business income from my largest client here in the UK so hopefully as soon as they get around to sending it I'll get my visa and I'll be off. IT's dragging now. Still can't seem to get excited as the visa thing is dragging on too long. Will defo get excited once I get the go ahead. Would be easier to be a criminal to get into thec ountry. Beginning to wish I had applied for a working holidaymaker now instead of ... read more

Thought I had better tell you all who I am travelling with. He is a native Australian from Perth WA his name is David Wingrove and we have been great friends for a few years now. In fact he actually lodged at my place for 6 Months from November last year to May of 2005, so we get on with each other really well and know each other inside out. David had talked about going home to see his folks for Christmas 2005 so I asked if I could join him so that I could go off and see a bit of Australia. It was after that we decided to plan a joint trip that will take us to Perth, then on to Sydney, Cairns, Alice Springs then back to Perth for Christmas and New Year ... read more
