Lynfielders, So Amit & Veena got married in NZ on April 9, but seeing many of Veena's friends and family missed it, they held a reception for us in London! It was wicked! Also, the travelblog godfather himself, Nathan Hart, has made it to Europe to see his family & to be in Germany for the World Cup. So I'm sure there will be a few more action-packed blogs in the next wee while! But first up, enjoy the Reception of Amit & Veena! Later, Aaron ... read more

Well to say my arrival to England was an ordeal would be an understatement. After a scheduled time of leaving Melbourne Airport at 3:30pm on Wednesday the 3rd of May. We ended up leaving Melbourne at 2:50am on Thursday the 4th of May. On the tarmac ready to take off for Singpore, the engine began revving and we were headed down the runway, until the plane pulled up and took us back to the terminal. Apparantly something was wrong with the starter engine. After sitting on the plane for just over an hour and a half we were sent back into the terminal to wait, while a part to fix the engine was sent down from Sydney and we were given a $14 food voucher. After waiting and waiting with no news, people got a little ... read more

I found out today that I was on TV during/after the match yesterday so I hope I wasn't yawning or picking my nose. I'll try and chase up the video footage off Matty. 16/5/2006 I had a pretty ordinary day at work today. I kept a group of students in for detention, and they proceeded to take down posters, rub work off the board, tip tables over, and took the clock down and changed the time. They also sang songs about me going home, and I would have joined in if I knew the words! Kate also had a pretty average day, and she came up for dinner, so all three of us complained about our jobs. 17/5/2006 After school and gym I went around to Matty's to watch The Champion's League final between Barcelona and ... read more

We played cricket after school against another school. I only bowled one over and took 4/0 including a hatrick before taking myself off. I even took it easy once I was half way through the over and already had a couple of wickets. The other side obviously didn't realise we were sharing it around including the batting order, and were quite precious about winning. I came in and hit the winning runs the first ball I faced, but it was actually leg byes! I hope we play them again and play our strongest team. That night we met Matt's extended family and walked to The Bull which was pretty packed. It was a good venue, typical English pub with low ceilings. Ravi walked us home afterwards and he seemed to know everyone on the street, or ... read more

8/5/2006 Today was my first Monday at school for ages. With only 3 lessons I think it might become my favourite day now my classes have settled. Monday as my favourite day - sheesh! Beck was late to work because it took over an hour to get from Grays to Barking in the traffic returning the hire car. 9/5/2006 Went to the gym after school. I've been working hard on riding and my knee feels good. I'm fighting a battle at the moment between going to the gym and my social life. To the point I'm scared that beer might start dribbling out of my ear while I'm standing in front of the class. 10/5/2006 Tonight after school we had tickets for Grays versus Halifax. If Grays win they get promoted to second division which is ... read more

Well here we are ... 6AM and ready to roll !! Lovely fine morning - cool, but sunny and a delightful dawn chorus to send me on my way. Heading for a point just to the east of Ipswich and Woodbridge in south east Suffolk. Intend to explore Rendlesham and Tunstall forests today and then next day or so the rest of that part of the coast known as the 'sandlings'. Incidentally if you search Rendlesham in google you will find various refs to well doc UFO incident in 1980 !!!!... read more

I was tired today so I didn't envy Beck going into work. I walked all the way to the gym only to find it shut due to the Bank Holiday. I rang Bruiser and Pipsy and it was good to chat with them and catch up with news back home before I had an afternoon nap. 2/5/2006 The start of another short week for me. After school I went to the gym for a run on the treadmill. 3/5/2006 Everything has finally caught up with me, and I now have a decent cough that I have to try and shake. I had to excuse myself a few times from the 2 hour long (!) staff meeting due to coughing fits. I still managed to go to the gym and ride the bike though. 4/5/2006 After school ... read more

I got up ok and got through the day alright. I had to take an extra during my only free lesson because the Maths department are sorting out their coursework. Not what you need after the week I've just had. 27/4/2006 I felt more tired today. I had another extra during my only free lesson to give me another full day due to coursework. Definitely not what I needed. 28/4/2006 I was late to work by fifteen minutes after a misunderstanding with Ravi, but the school understood. We had our first game of school cricket amongst ourselves with 5 or 6 a side. My team bowled first and I took two wickets in 9 balls. When we batted, I came in last and made 14 not out off 4 balls. I actually lost the ball when ... read more
