Hello from Hastings....a small fishing town next to Dover and the place of the infamous battle of 1066. We just visited the ruins of Hasting's Castle and some really crazy caves used by pirate smugglers and then later as hospitals during the air raids of WWII. Anyway, I'm on a train, so I just decided to update quickly. Pics are up: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/facebooksucks/album?.dir=5bb7&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/facebooksucks/my_photos ...sorry that's so long. Just copy and paste in the browser. Anyway, I have to go!! Tomorrow is Windsor Castle and Eton College. I hope everyone is doing well at home. I miss everyone so much! ... read more

Top of the morning to you, Don't have alot of time today, but I want to update before I forget. Last night i had a genuine English experience. A friend and i when to a local pub to watch the England v. Ireland match. Pints, England jerseys, crazed people beating each other.....it was interesting to be an outsider observing another such a strong part of their culture. England did lose. People were angry and drunk. That's about all I have time for because I actually have school work to do. Cheers mates, Julie... read more

Hallo, Hallo, Well, England has been a relaxing experience so far. Not really, it's actually been extremely confusing, but I had a relaxing day. I am very much enjoying just exploring places, but words wouldn't do them justice sooooo here are a few pictures that I though had enough merit for the public to see (they also include a few of the insane looking buildings on my campus. I would have took more, but people were staring at me.): http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/facebooksucks/my_photos Today, I woke up at 1 pm, then i went to a boring class where we watched British soap operas. They were so terrible and boring. After class, a few people and I tried to eat a pizza, but it was nasty. Then, the sun came out and I felt the need to explore. The romantic ... read more

Oy, Last night, I took a shower. The "shower" is roughly a third of the size is my closet at home. I share it with Laura, Marian, and Drew who all live on my floor. I also share it with all the other flats in the building. That's 12 people and 1 "shower." I'm not trying to complain because at least I can take a shower. The buildings here are really hideous art deco, Wizard of Oz looking things, but the actual campus is beautiful. There are lush green rolling hills srinkled with wild flowers. Yesterday evening, we decided to walk around them and enjoy the picturesque English countryside. While walking up the hill, I noticed a black thing on my shoe. It was a huge, fat, slimey slug! The guy next to me had them ... read more

Hello other side of the world, Well. I am completely out of my mind tired, but it's too hot in my dorm to sleep. Who would have thought England is hot? Things are confusing. Very confusing. The fact that I arrived here on my own without screwing up gives me strength...flight delays, plane problems, train tickets, little villages, school IDs, an overwhelming campus built and not changed since the 60's. 'Nough bitchin though. but really things are just a bit out of order over here, which is why I am emailing and typing from the library. However, I have great faith that things will improve when classes start. Anyway, 3 1/2 months isnt too long, right? Just kidding. I know I will adapt and have a blast. Right now, I'm just somewhere between culture shock and ... read more

Well, only a few days to go before I get "on my bike" and catch friends and events all over the Uk during this summer. In fact, it kinda starts tomorrow, as I head-off to Swansea for a few days - meeting up with old friends, my lecturer who is soon to leave permanently for the Hague, and who has been a great friend for me these 5 years; and even some new people I've met over hi5, interestingly... I can't wait! I return from SWansea on Sunday, to celebrate Refugee Week and move house (and clean our present house - I'm taking the whole day off of course!); so it'll be Tuesday morning by the time I strap-down my tent, clothes, books andf guitar and set-off for Reading, so my grandparents will see me there ... read more

Well, I may be back in the UK , but don't think for one moment that I'm cured of the travel bug! Just now I've been plotting on a map-site my route around the UK for this July; taking the Earthing the Spirit Festival in Burnlaw, Northumberland (9th-17thJuly) as my benchmark; as well as the Baha'i Study courses at Cranmore in Somerset from 22ndJuly to 1st Sept. Leaving Brighton bright an' early on 1st July, I'll head swiftly to Reading to spend time with my grandparents. Spending a day there, I'll head-off the following morning to OXford, where many of my friends live, having a great day's sharing of music, stories and love; the next day (3rd) making my swift way to Leamington Spa, again having some wonderful times with friends in Southam, Stocton and Kenilworth, ... read more

Hey everyone! Maybe you haven't heard by now - but I'm back in the UK!!! yup - Brighton beach and uni of sussex have felt my scooter-steps, and our musical gathering last night was tainted by my india-inspired wailing... Thanks to all of my friends that made my trip possible - I know it's cheesy, but I wouldn't have got near india or even Brighton without so many bright souls prepared to trust me, listen to me and share their knowledge, love and resources with me; you all ROCK! I'm currently planning my scooter-tour of the Uk for this summer;- probably rtrekking up the east coast of the UK to Northumberland for Earthing the Spirit Festival (here's a plug; it's awesome and you should all come; click to find out) - then down the west coast ... read more

We're in Hastings now, just south of London a bit. The beach here is just fantastic! No sand, just pebbles, but smaller than the once in Nice. I really like it. And the sea is such a nice blue - not the bright blue it was in Nice, more of a steely blue. Anyway, its cool. You should all come over and check it out. Today we had a pretty quiet day - just saw where the battle of Hastings was and walked around the battlefield, listening to the history of it all. Really interesting stuff - history seems much more relevant when you're actually there! Aside from that though, we're pretty much just hanging out here for the evening. Tomorrow we take the car back to Brighton and head into London for a couple of ... read more
