well the bags are packed and were waiting to go. This will be our journal to anyone sad enough to want to follow us as we gingerly make our way to foreign soil. We woud like to say here and now, we intend to show off, big up, overexude, and generally try to piss off as many peolpe as possible while sunning ourselves, drinking to excess and being an obnoxsoius nuisence to anyone who is not Anglo Saxon, and that's just Dionne! Also, I can't see a spell check and Magna Carta secondary seems a long time ago. If we can be bothered we will post our second blog in Hong Kong. Pete couldnt fly us down (thank god) so we should get there!!... read more

Winter is approaching. I can tell by the way the day's are getting shorter, the light is getting greyer and I'm wearing a jacket to work because it's cold. So, what do you do on a day that is already grey? Go visit a town famed for it's immensity of greyness: Windsor. The town is small, small than paeroa small. So small that you would miss it even if you didn't blink. However, it does have a huge castle. It must get a lot of tourists, because the main street has at least one of every single fast food outlet. On your left is Windsor Castle, home of the Queen, on your right your pick of Subway, McDonalds, Burger King, KFC or Pizza Hut to name but a few. According to our brochure, there a tour ... read more

Geo: 51.2604, -0.726463Hey all!! il prob be brief cos once again the cost of internet here is DISGRACEFUL and im already super broke. Yesterday I went on a tour through the English country side. The inspiration for choosing it was that i wanted to see stonehenge so i thought id see a couple other significant things while i was at it. It was all pleasantly priced at a mere £65 (Student rate!!) thats like $170AU... sob.anyway the trip was pretty damn good so thats all that counts! Only thing of concern is that I was one of like 4 under 30s lol but ah well, was easy to meet them. One being a 25 year old aussie guy, and the others were two 19 year old canadian girls. I LOVE canadian accents!!! ;) First part was ... read more

Hello all. First of all, apologies for leaving you all in a state of suspense over what happened after the Galápagos. After receiving one concerned message (what about the rest of you?) as to my plight: To reassure you, Jeff, that my blog does have a happy ending: i) I was not eaten by a shark (the white-tipped sharks we did see swam past too quickly to eat me and are anyway apparently vegetarian, or was that the caimans, I don't know...) Either way, I am in one piece. ii) I did meet some tribal type people in the Amazon but did not indulge in any pot. iii) (Alas?) despite some pretty special salsa moves and a night of dancing through to dawn, I am not even close to being married to a local bar girl ... read more

This has to have been the most drunken leaving party. I met up in the evening with friends from Wokingham and I can just about remember most of it. I started the night by meeting friends in The Tavern. It's a nice petite bar, long, thin and sometimes a little claustrophobic but with a nice garden area. It was raining but luckily managed to hide underneath some cover. After several we headed over to The New Rose. There we met more people and I lost count of the drinks. For some reason I agreed to go to the local night club - well, it was an old haunt after all, shame not to say goodbye to that place too. Mostly I remember my friends pulling silly faces for the camera and discussing my travel plans with ... read more

Day 89: Thursday 3rd August 2006: Sunny: An exciting day ahead - meeting friends and family. After brekky it was off to the train (which was late leaving) to Reading, change of train to Slough and then change to Windsor and this train was also running 1/2 hour late and all were very very slow, consequently we were very late arriving at Windsor where Jean and Keith had been waiting for ages. Keith had had a banner ready with "Welcome Jenny and Vera", but was gone to move the car. Never mind, it was wonderful to have them there to meet us. After hugs and kisses and hellos etc it was into the car to go to our B&B - great - when we eventually found it the woman had no record of our booking (had ... read more

Right life has settled down now a bit in the Uk. What with charging around everywhere trying to see friends, apply for courses and attend interviews. So I'm going to learn a bit of French in the beautiful city of Paris. Well I hope it is beautiful. With a dark Bohemian underbelly of course. After my 5 weeks course I think I may just do a bit of touring on foot across the French countryside. Everyone is welcome to join of course. So will keep you updated on all exciting events. Am very excited.... read more

A Flight Lacking In Something... The flight from Addis to Sana'a in Yemen was quite short, so I didn't expect much. Then there was the wait at the airport duty free wasn't much to write home about (I later found out that the antique electronics they had for sale didn't actually work) and their version of a lounge was a couple of plastic chairs around a plastic table. There wasn't much in the way of air con either, ad it was around 40 degrees (the airport was in a desert!). Then on to the flight. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't sit near James so I wasn't looking forward to being sat next to some one who I probably wouldn't be able to talk too. I was informed that we would be sitting in ... read more
