woke up to an absolutly beautiful clear morning. first up today was a hellicopter ride with the only way down being a sky dive with 45seconds free fall before the parachute being released. It was an amazing experience, there was so much to look at when you are up in the sky it was absolutly beautiful. I was doing a tandem jump with a pro. It was an amazing experience, it was a complete rush of adrenilin it was nothing like anything ive experienced before, I would definatly recommend it to everyone, I even got photos and a dvd of the skydive. There was 5 of us that did it. We were all finished up at lunch time so decided after having lunch to catch a cable car a stop up the mountain to have alook ... read more

Day 4: Paris, France to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland Saturday, October 10th, 2009 The fourth day of our trip was spent mostly on the bus driving from Paris, France to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. The view coming into Switzerland was quite beautiful. When we finally got to our campsite, we learned that we needed to pay for hot showers. I guess hot water is a luxury in Switzerland ;-) After we settled into our cabins, we had dinner in the Topdeck tent where we were served traditional Swiss cuisine, which included cheese fondue. I don't know about you, but I am more of a chocolate lover. I love chocolate fondue. I found the cheese fondue to be too rich and liquored up (which could be a good thing ;-). After a mediocre dinner, we congregated in the bar at the ... read more

Woke up super early and we went to Jungfraujoch - "The Top of Europe". So cold as you can imagine. Travelled there on a cog wheel train, through the Alps. At the top we were higher than the clouds! After the Jungfrau we went to Zurich for the night. Didnt like being in a big city again with a lot of traffic, also our hotel was not the best. First one that we havent loved. Had a very early night!... read more

The hotel has free internet access! Every other place has been a struggle to pay for and finish before the timer ends. Though it just kicked me off and I had already typed about 2 paragraphs in this blog. Oh well, I will start over! So here we are in our hotel in Lauterbrunnen. We got here around 2 PM after a scenic train ride through the Swiss countryside. We traveled through Interlaken, which is a town in the middle of two lakes and at the base of the mountains. No words can describe how incredible the landscapes are here. Hills pop out of the land with steep inclines, houses look precariously perched on the slopes and cows and sheep defy gravity grazing on the grass that is still green, despite the temperatures of about 40 ... read more

Day 4 - Lauterbrunnen I wake up pretty early to have a shower and enjoy the brisk morning air. I take a few snaps of the scenery and bump in to 3 nervous souls who are about to do the skydiving optional extra. Simon, Trent and Brendan all look a little scared, but I can’t blame them, I certainly wouldn’t want to skydive. I have breakfast and then we take the brief walk to the train station to catch the really expensive train up to Jungfraujoch, commonly known as the Top of Europe. Most of our group cram on to the little train and we head up on our couple of hours journey to the top. The views from the train are amazing; the snow capped mountains are just like a postcard scene. We switch trains ... read more

Day 3 - Paris to Lauterbrunnen Nice and early start this morning as we make the long trip to Lauterbrunnen (in the Swiss Alps). On the way everyone get’s on the microphone and we introduce ourselves. This is kinda fun but after a dozen or so trying to remember names is useless. I begin my introduction by announcing I’m not from Australia, which gets claps from everyone. I find out that there are 3 other accountants on the bus, which makes for an exciting tour!! (NB actually out of the four of us, none of us lived up to the stereotypical boring accountant, we’re all quite exciting). Today I'm sat with Lucy on the coach, although I spend most of the day listening to my Ipod I have a few chats with Lucy and she seems ... read more

Today's activity was going to be a little more traditional but a lot more strenuous. A group of us that included myself, Cody (San Fran) and Jake and Joe (the OC) were going to rent bikes and trek up to some of the mountains down in this nearby valley. Got up pretty early to get a head start on the day and rented bikes from this nearby pizzeria. Everybody in this town has some connections to the action/adventure sports. It took us about an hour and a half of mostly uphill biking to reach the town of Lauterbrunner which sits at the end of one valley and from there we took another half an hour to bike down through the valley to another small town on the end. I know this is getting redundant but the ... read more

I was actually able to sleep in today. It felt pretty nice, especially going to bed early the night before. Today I had paid for and planned to go up the Jungfrau mountain. Unfortunately, I missed breakfast, and therefore missed Filippo telling us that the weather was bad and if we no longer wanted to go this was our chance to get refunded. As I was getting dressed I realized I had nothing to wear on my feet. All I had brought was three pairs of flats and a pair of boots. I’d had to throw my boots away in Venice as they were ruined from paragliding. I knew I couldn’t wear flats in the snow, but it was all I had, so I decided to suffer through socks and flats, which looked ridiculous, let me ... read more

Today was probably the worst hangover I’d have the whole trip. Also, my muscles hurt so badly today I could barely get out of bed. We were up early, had breakfast, and began our long drive to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. I slept for the first three hours, and then we made a stop in Milan, where I had spaghetti (again). I’m finding that Italy is more expensive than the other countries we’ve been to, or maybe I’m just buying more stuff here. We had a smooth crossing at the Swiss-Italian border, and then we were on our way to Lucerne. About half an hour from the city, Filippo was telling us all about Switzerland, and how they have many rules. Just then a police car sped up in front of us and flashed a sign telling us ... read more
