Day 3 (6/23) See photos of our travels url="http://picasaweb.google.com/kosmatka/SagradaFamiliaBarcelonaDay3?authkey=6Ex2-nrqAHI" target="_blank"here Rachel says: Today was supposed to be a big adventure day for us. We had preplanned an all day trip of kayaking and picnicking on the coast of Spain. Despite our rough night of sleep (both of us were fully awake at 2:30 and didn’t get back to sleep until after 5), we managed to get up and be at our destination by 8:15. Our tour (Oregonian) guide arrived shortly after us, only to tell us that our trip had to be canceled due to high winds. Long story short, we ended up rescheduling our trip for tomorrow and headed back to the hotel to sleep…for the next 5 hours. First order of business—lunch. We were starving. It after 2 by the time we headed ... read more

6-23-07 I got up around 7:30 after a good nights rest and headed for the bus station. I got there and still had some time so I went to find breakfast. Of course no eggs to be found. I found a pastry place and got a couple pastries unsure of what they would taste like and I convinced them to sell me a liter of milk for a euro as well. They did not have small containers of milk. I didn't even think about it being warm and how I was going to get it open as it was in a cardboard box like container. I walked back to the bus station and had breakfast. Just plain donuts would have been better, but it is kind of hard to find them. The milk I tried to ... read more

Well, since I last spoke, we went out on the town with Nicole - walking the streets of Valencia. It is very pretty at night. The streets are narrow and people hear drive crazy (to me) - maybe just because the streets are small. Anyways, there are these parking garages that let out onto the street via the sidewalk. There is no warning that you are coming up on them and they have no warning that you are coming up on them either. The first one we came across was a little scary - but Nicole was like WAIT - then we figured it out. After dinner and walking around we were sitting in the park area (in the median) having coffee when some of her friends showed up. They had just gotten back from a ... read more

Heres some news on our Spain trip. - We have found out that the cars a really small everywhere in Spain. And that some shops aren't far away at all. The skatepark is literally right next to the Botanical Gardens. Tomorrow Nicole and possibly Lauren, Mom and me are going to the mall that we've been to like three times already. Haha. And we met some of Nicoles friends at Vips and we asked Derek if they wanted come to the park with us and Derek was excited about that. He wanted to come. I dont know if Matt wants to, but I'm sure he will. - When we were catching a Taxi in front of our Hotel to meet up with Nicole at Starbucks our ears heard a melodie of honking horns from the ... read more

Teatre-Museu Dali, aka The Dali Theater-Museum is one of the most impressive museums I’ve been to. There’s so much to see, my eyes hurt after spending a few hours there. Dali personally designed, decorated and painted this museum to showcase his works (there are a few other artist there as well). There’s way to much to write it all down, so I’ll just share some pictures. Some of my favorites were the Mae West room, a living room of her face and there are some stairs you walk up to look through drapery, or her hair, to get the full picture. How creative is that?!! There’s also the Paradise room, which you view through a peep hole that is so beautiful with it’s bright green colors. Not much else to see at Figueres (cute town ... read more

Day 2 in Barcelona (6/22) You can see photos of our adventures url="http://picasaweb.google.com/kosmatka/GothicQuarterBarcelonaDay2?authkey=0ZKBLH9G9pE" target="_blank"here Rachel says: After getting 11 hours of sleep, we rushed downstairs to see if we could still get the hotel's “continental breakfast” (at 11:25 am. :-)) We were famished and quite pleased when they said that we could still get it. Breakfast was bread with a side of bread. Alright…in all fairness, it was more like a croissant with a side of toast. After we finished our gourmet goodies, we headed back upstairs to shower so that we could begin our day. We quickly learned that getting up late was to our advantage. The Spaniards consider lunch time to be between 1 and 4 and dinner isn’t eaten until around 9 o’clock. (I guess we were more in line with the ... read more

Hola, 16 JUNE - Saturday • Well, bright and early Saturday morning, we all awoke, ate the questionable hotel breakfast, loaded the bus and made for Atocha train station, where were going to take the AVE, Spain's high-speed train, to Córdoba. I'm a big fan of trains and I'm also a big fan of going fast, so I was excited. Not as excited as I'd have been if I'd gotten more than 5 hours of sleep the night before, but still, excited. The AVE hums along at about 200 miles per hour and we completed what would have been a five-hour bus ride in about 1:45. It was cool; I'd try to look out the window and focus on items and it was impossible to do if they were close to the train. The farther ... read more

Pues, Amigos! Es un buen dia aqui en Malaga hoy. Hace mucho calor pero estoy cerca de la playa entonces no me molesta. It has been another week in Spain and the time is starting to literally fly by. I cant believe I only have 7 more days here! No lie, I miss home a lot but when I think about leaving my precious Spanish family it makes me sad too!!! First I will start with Sevilla. Sevilla was a pretty neat city. We saw another palace with Islamic art and the such which was pretty cool but the main attractions in this city were the Cathedral and the Plaza de España. The Cathedral in Sevilla is the largest in Spain and the third largest in Europe after the Vatican and St. Paul's in London. Indeed, ... read more
