I arrived from Barcelona to Valencia and still felt a bit ill when a friend of mine picked me up at the station. The next day I had to visit a doctor and got conformated the fear that my tonsels had gone bad. The next five days happened on antibiotics. This seemed offcourse pretty sad, but I was with friends that I love and they have often enough seen me drunk. At the same time they also treated me as they allways call me. As the little sister who is all the time about to do something without thinking. So five days without drinking. Interesting! It was some great days. I tasted some wonderfull homemade Paella and was sightseeing the center plus having many a botellon beeing the only one not completely lost in translation. ... read more

For those of you that may not know, in a little village called Bunol (about 40K from Valencia), the largest food fight in the world is held every year. Thousands of people manage to get over to it, and this year, we were two of the lucky people. Having heard that the cost of accomodation in Valencia is hugely inflated at this time of year, we decided to travel out of the city and stay in a place called Mareny de Barraquettes on the Playa de Sueca. We took a tent and set ourself up camping on the beach for a week. The campsite itself seemed like it was a second home for many Spanish people - probably heading out of the city to get away from the likes of us! Very little English was spoken ... read more

Fist stop was Paris to see the sights then we traveled through Bordeaux for a bit of culture and wine tasting before the mayhem of Pamplona and the running of the bulls. Then it was off to St Sebastian and we managed to see a Bob Dylan concert on the beach. You could almost recognise some of his songs. then it was sightseeing in Porto and Lisbon both fantastic old sities. the we hit Largos for some serious beach, swimming, tanning time. I loved it. I stayed in Valencia for two days. In two different hostels, I was going to a small town between here and Barcelona. Unfortunately there is a huge concert around there too, so I had a tough time to find a hostel between Valencia and Barcelona. I can´t even get a train ticket (another story here). So I spent 2 days here. I had my warm up parties before Barcelona. I arrived here in the afternoon. I decided to head to the beach. As by myself, I am not willing to leave my stuff alone. I was walking around and try to find something who I can trust. I walked about 15 mins. I saw a lot of topless and then I saw a couple having sex on the beach. Yes I wasn´t kidding. Later on I ... read more

We traveled back to Spain after the wedding, arriving back to Valencia about 9pm Monday night. Greg and I were lucky enough to stay with our friends Brett, Lou and their daughter Clare for the next four days. Brett and another friend of ours Tim are working for team Alinghi, the defenders of the America’s Cup that will be held in Valencia next year. The port where all the teams are located is amazing, unfortunately I didn’t get any shots as photographs were not allowed  I didn’t realise until now just how much money is invested in this event. We managed to go out for dinner, one night with Brett, Lou, Tim and Kim, it was really good catching up with everyone. One of the days Greg and I went exploring around the old town ... read more

(august 6th through 7th 2005) the 12hr bus ride was hell. though we drove through beautiful hills, and olive plantations, the time itself was exhausting to us. it was boring. even our 1/2 hr stop in a deserted town was draining. we arrived in valencia just past nine, and awaited two friends that my brother had met during his time in portugal--both of them spaniards (cristina and pilar). we decided to make this a rest stop before barcelona, but it didn't turn out that way. my brother and i decided to invite them out to dinner, as they were hosting us for the night. i didn't get a chance to write everything, as they led the way from the train station on their volkswagen bug--yup the four of us, cristina's boyfriend driving, and all of our ... read more

Valencia, land of Oranges was a very cool city. It had a huge park in it that used to be a river, it flooded the city once upon a time so they decided to turn it into a park! The only bad thing was that we were there on a Saturday and a Sunday, and Sundays in europe are pretty much dead. Still, we managed to have a night out drinking Agua de Valencia, which is freshly squeezed orange juice, champagne and vodka, one of my favourite spanish drinks so far. We saw a traditional spanish band playing which was awesome, and just generally soaked up the atmosphere. The next day we wandered down to the beach which was massive, and filled with people as it was a sunday. It was really hot, about 36 degrees ... read more

I am a bit behind on my blog. I am working hard to catch up but I just posted new pictures on previous blog entries so you all can enjoy those until I get caught up. When I arrived in Valencia there were thousands of people waiting on the side of the street. I figured the Pope was going to make an appearence. I decided to find the Purple Nest hostel. I really lucked out with this hostel. It was beautiful, clean and brand new. I droppped off my stuff and headed for the supermarket. After spending a couple days in a hostel I had quickly caught on to the concept of cooking your own food. After shopping there were still people in the streets so I decided to put muy groceries down and wait a ... read more
