I've now moved down to Valencia for the Las Fallas Festival and staying with Will Tay in luxury living but I'll just recap the few days in Barcelona. Barcelona I got to a point where I got to see most of the city and actually get to know it really well as I was there for 7 days all up. I met so many awesome people including many Americans on their spring break. I also met this very nice Polish girl called Monika and so we hung out for a few days, and during this time she convinced me to go bungy jumping. Now when I rung up the place and booked it, it seemed like a professional outfit so was happy to go along with it. So we took a small train ride out of ... read more

Okay, So I just decided to start a whole new journal entry to finish up my adventures in Valencia...So, where did I leave off? Oh yes...sleeping. So, sleeping is always nice, especially when you have a nice long chunk of time in which to participate in such an activity, unfortunately I did not. After finally getting everyone into our room that was supposed to be there, and going to bed in was around 3:00. Well, the alarm that went off to wake us up at around 8:00 came all too soon. So, we dragged tired, pathetic, sleep-deprived bodies out of bed and went to breakfast, provided by the hotel. It was good! Croissants, cereal, pastries, everything a bunch of college students that didn't get much sleep could want! lol So at about 9:00 we set off ... read more

Last weekend we took a bus to Valencia, a GORGEOUS city that is located right on the coast of the Mediterranean. I realized that, no matter where I live in the future, I have to be near water. I felt so relaxed and alive being so close to the beach. It was amazing. The night that we arrived in Valencia we went on a tour of the city, which is huge and very nice. That night Matt, Carla, and I ventured on an hour and a half walk to see if we could find the beach. We definitely got lost, but found it eventually. It was such a great feeling. Everything about it was wonderful: the smell of the saltwater, the sand between my toes, it was great. The next morning we had an opportunity to ... read more

iHola! Este fin de semana los estudiantes de CEA fuimos a Valencia. Es una ciudad muy bonita. La arcitectura es guapo. Tiene en rio en la ciudad, pero al rio es no mas. En 1960's la ciudad muevrse el rio. Ahora tiene museos, parques, and facilidades de deportes donde el rio "used to be" (Sorry, I don't know how to say that in Spanish!) lol So, I guess that ends the Spanish portion of my post for the day. For those of you who are Spanish illiterate what I said above was pretty much something like this...This weekend CEA took its students to Valencia. It's a very pretty city. Its arcitecture it beautiful. It has a river, but in the 1960's the city moved the river, (because of flooding problems, which I didn't even try to ... read more

How wonderful!!! We have nothing but good things to say about Valencia! Jes and I have decided it's our favorite city to date, no question. It's beautiful, warm, on the water, clean, and easy to navigate. We really couldnt ask for better. Anyway, so we arrived on friday evening after a bus to the airport and then a short flight into Valencia...then a taxi to finally get to our hotel. We dropped off our stuff and headed out to the historic center. What a beautiful area!! It was adorable! Wide open tree-lined streets connecting open piazzas with little shops and restaurants scattered around them. The streets were well lit and the whole section was brimming with people-teenagers on skateboards, old couples taking walks, families with young children, friends sitting down for a beer. Everyone seemed to ... read more

Wow, I have been here a month now! It is crazy how time flies! And the next few weeks will be insane, I have trips planned the next four weekends: Dublin and London next weekend, Paris after that, then Florence and Rome, then Seville--which is a planned trip with the school. Should be very exciting! And I will have lots of pictures and fun stories to tell here. This week was pretty boring here, the weather was nicer, so I went walking this weekend, but not many people were around (some people went to Barcelona this weekend, and others went wine tasting on Saturday). So Saturday I went on a walk to the beach, it was very nice, I walked in the sand and sat there and looked at the Mediterranean for a while. Then on ... read more

Feeling the January blues after a fun old Christmas and New Year, the Baso boys were chomping at the bit when Shaun twirled his mighty mullet in the direction of a long weekend away in February to warmer, more cultural climes. Team G.E.L, (don’t ask!), was soon formed and cheap flights, and a cheap, but thanks to a first-hand recommendation from the legendary Sarah Lloyd, but brilliant hostel were all booked. All that was left was to find our passports and set the alarms - the 3a.m. start was not going to be pleasant!! Heavy snowfall on the day before we were supposed to leave looked a little ominous, but by the time we had to leave the weather was completely clear, and very much on the nippy side! Nug seemed to have got a little ... read more

Hi all! This is the end of my third week here, and it has been a good one. Not much happened during the week, classes and such. Then Thursday we went out dancing for a bit. Friday was nothing special, went to school and booked a trip to Paris with some of my friends for the weekend of February 22-25. It should be really fun! Then wandered around and had churros and chocolate. They were amazing! Anyone coming to Spain has to try them. It is like fried dough (very fresh) and then you dip them in hot chocolate, but this hot chocolate is not watered down, it is like pure chocolate melted in a cup! Then at night, we decided not to go out. Kate and I watched a Grey's Anatomy episode before bed. Then ... read more

This past week and weekend have been fairly uneventful. I had classes Tuesday through Thursday, and spent my time off eating and going online (trying to put pictures up in this blog...which is a painfully slow process). So keep checking back, because I will be adding the rest of the Barcelona ones soon, and also adding some aquarium pictures and some pictures I took of my room too. My classes are going well, they are really easy! I don't have much homework at all, only for my spanish class, and there isn't much for that anyway. I had my first art history class on Tuesday, it will be very cool, we get to go on field trips to see different museums every other week. And during our first class, we learned about different styles of architecture ... read more

Found ourselves treking down from Barcelona to Valencia on a cheap cheap day bus. Met tons of french students coming to study and madly searching for apartments. Ended up spending a day wandering through some little cheap museums and finding a gorgeous market. Markets are amazing in europe. Ended up heading to the neighbourhood bar/club/pub with 7 french girls from all over belgium and france. Stayed out way too late due to some crazy Argentian boys and caught up on sleep the next day. Ran around in the rain the next day and drank a lot of tea as it wasnt weather to do anything else. Caught a film and then there was a break in the rain!! Night bus to granada was an adventure..but ended up in an amazing spanish mountain city. Saw Alahambra a ... read more
