Spain 26th - 28th Leaving work at 12, I headed into town to meet up with jade for some sight seeing before heading off to Liverpool street station and my bus, we ended up in oxford street doing some shopping and had lunch in a nice park, after which we explored the huge array of January sales, and I bought myself a great new coat! After which we headed to the station and getting only a little lost we finally found where the bus left from. So jumping on the bus with my little bag between my legs (Ryan air charges extra for luggage). It took about an hour to get to the airport and I arrive just in time, booked in waited in queue, got my whole bag turned inside out searching for bombs and ... read more

After a two day journey via London we arrived in Valencia to pouring rain, hail, snow and -5 degree weather. We were told this is highly unusual weather for this time in Valencia, lucky us! Since we only had two days there we had to bear the cold. After a few hours we went and stocked up on shoes, scarfs, umbrellas and warmers jackets as we were not prepared for the hurricanes. The weather didnt damper our time in Valencia, we still managed to see the sights and when the weather cleared a little on our second day we even managed to visit the beach. ... read more

Hi all! I went on a trip to Barcelona this weekend, it was very last minute, but a really fun trip! I went with 5 other girls and we stayed in a hostel. The hostel was interesting, the people there were really nice and helpful, but the room was cramped with 16 people, and the bathrooms weren't so clean, but it was a good deal for 15 euros a night. We went by train on Friday afternoon, and it took 4 hours to get there. Then we went to the hostel and then went out to dinner. We ended up going to a pretty expensive place, but we were tired of searching around so it worked. We went with an Australian guy who we met at the hostel, he was really interesting and fun to talk ... read more

Yesterday was the second day of orientation, it was interesting, we learned more about classes, and talked a lot about the excursions around Valencia that we can go on, and also the big trips as well. I decided that I am not going on the planned trip to Lisbon, since it is not a top destination, I would rather spend my money on someplace I have always wanted to go, like England and Italy. I will go on the trip to Seville, and also the spring break trip in Tunisia, they both will be very exciting. There are a lot of people who want to travel, so we can get a group together to spend long weekends in England and Italy no problem. I still can't get over how exciting it is to be in Europe ... read more

Hola! I am in Spain now. We spent our first day in Madrid, then most of the second day in Toledo, and then took a long bus ride (with a short stop in Alarcon) to Valencia. Today was our first full day in Valencia. I love it here so far, the language is hard, but I am actually much better than most people on the trip, I can get by. My host mother (we call them senoras) is super nice and her house is also very nice. Kate is my roomate, she is really nice as well, but she doesn't know any spanish yet, so I translate for her most of the time. But she and my host mother know a little italian so that helps too. All the people on the trip are really nice ... read more

Took a bus with about 40 other erasmus students to Valencia. I enjoyed it, the art museums we visited where a little boring, but the Catherdal of Valencia was great. They supposivly store the Holy Grail and Saint Vicente's left arm, which are both available for the public to see. We also went to Ajuntament de Real, a park and a fresh market next to the old medevil fresh market. To finalize our trip we went to the newer area of Valencia and looked at the new arcatitecture of the natural science museum and other amazing building in that area.... read more

To all my avid readers, a very happy new year & hope your xmas was as good as mine. Before going on to this entry, the answers to the Italian questions. The tractor thingy was indeed a Lamborgini (this is what the sports cars look like without a body), so well done Dom and Si. Best guess goes to Steve, with a Lancia left out in the rain (though it was obviously in too good a condition for this to be correct). The drain was the drain of truth, which will, as legend has it, swallow your hand if you tell lies. Well done Dom again and Sharon (nice to hear from you and Dot) Anyway, down to business. I have done some mile since my last entry. Travelling north through Italy, I spen a few ... read more

Last night we went to Torrevieja this nice fishing city it had a great foreshore with nice market stalls along it. When it was getting dark we walked to the church which had this amazing minature nativity scene it was incredible, so much work went into it, it had heaps of different scenes from the story and all these amazing details and a few scenes with things Torrevieja were famous for like the salt hills that they process. It had the pyramids of egypt when Jesus' family had to flee there and the marriage of Mary and Joseph and the visits of the angels to Mary and Joseph. There were really cute funny details too like someone falling off the roof, and someonw with their skirt up warming their bum in front of the heater!! Today ... read more
