Eventually Saturday comes around and there's no rest for the wicked as we have to get up at the back of eight (for our final buffet breakfast) and then head over to Santa Pola to pick up our new keys! It's exciting but a bit annoying we have to do it in two trips, as we have so much stuff (including the new bed) and its a half hour trip each way. By the time we have gotten the keys and moved all our stuff in and picked up the dog, it is already early afternoon. The dog is ecstatic to see us and looks really happy and relaxed which is a good sign. And Sergio seems enamoured with him which is a good thing and says he was good as gold with him and the ... read more

We've had a few hectic weeks of packing, cleaning and generally trying to sort our lives out before once again upping sticks and moving to a new place and a new job (why we still put ourselves through it I will never know, although I think we thrive on the stress and excitement!). Oh and throw into the mix a week's holiday where we only get back the day before we leave makes it even more interesting! As you can imagine the day we arrive back is a bit manic and our day is spent doing about 5 loads of washing and then trying to dry it all on the radiator, followed by last minute packing and a final clean of the apartment. But we manage to get it done and sit down for an hour ... read more

Mallorca is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Mediterranean! It is characterized by its beautiful beaches, clear waters, and dramatic mountains. Even the Spanish royal family could not resist its charms. However, did you know that it is a great place for people who have kids? It may be difficult to find a great destination for the entire family. However, you will not have to worry about your kids— at least not any more than usual. What is it about the island that makes it ideal for travelling with children. Child-Friendly Area You will have no problems looking for playgrounds, pools, and activities that your kids will enjoy. November 21, 22, 23 Mallorca A 25 Euro taxi ride got us to the small Granada airport for our flight to Palma de Mallorca. Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic islands. It's a 50 minute flight (or seven hour ferry ride) from Barcelona. We had rented an apartment in the heart of the old town and looked forward to doing laundry (it had been two weeks since our last apartment rental in Madrid). I was instructed to call Maria who would give our driver directions about where to drop us off as the building couldn't be reached by vehicle. It was a short, up hill and up steps walk to #8 Cofrerria de San Miguel. Maria welcomed us with a bottle of Spanish wine, olive oil and candy and showed us the large apartment, all ... read more

Palma de MaJordan is a beautiful island and I hope to come back someday to explore the City but today we are off to learn how to make Paella. Unfortunately ML is not feeling well but tropper that she is she persisted. It is a shame because this is the one tour she really was looking forward to. Our first stop is the market to buy our ingredients. Like most markets of Europe it was a feast for the eyes. Large, immaculate, with fresh meat, fish, veggies and fruit, it really stimulated the taste buds. Everything is locally grown except for the tropical fruits. You can buy herbs and spices and prepared meals as well. Cooking utensils and pans and pots and aprons, whatever you need for the kitchen is available here. We watched the meat ... read more

After mummy and I had spent a week in Geneva, it felt as though time was flying too fast again. We now only had just over a week to play in Menorca, plus we had plans to visit Mallorca for 3 days. During this time, so much was done that the quote of the week became "it is remarkable that there is so much diversity for such a small island, I wasn't expecting that". I hope that this little blog entry gives you some idea of just how diverse and interesting this little island became for us. On 17 August, to celebrate my 7 month birthday, my first top tooth has appeared! That's why it was hurting so much! Mummy has been giving me lots of raw carrots to chew on. I can now scrape my ... read more

We are staying in Menorca for nearly a month, so it is worthy of an introduction. Daddy's parents bought a small apartment just outside of Mahon some 25 years ago (when daddy was 16 years old), and it has been rented and used irregularly. It is a beautiful spot, and certainly an easy way to secure accommodation during the huge European holiday rush in August. The capital of Menorca is Mahón (or Maó in local dialect), which sits on the world's second longest natural harbour (5 km in length, second only to Pearl harbour), and has a significant naval history - control of mediterranean trade / taxes; boat maintenance Privateering / corsair control of North African Barbary raids; British fleet efficiency (health) & hospitalisation services etc. In modern times the array of beautiful beaches (& agrotourism) ... read more

Anticipation out of the way and an early rise, the usual no sleep the night before from been too excited about a week off with the family in Majorca. We arrive at Gatwick and meet up with Oli, Maia, Phoenix and little Indigo for a Wagga-Momma breakfast before the TUI flight, a nice airbus plane with a bit of mood lighting, why not! It's a nice chilled out flight watching plant of the apes and a bit of Mario kart on the DS, losing to Helen which was a sad day for my Mario Kart skills, all those years at uni gone to waste! We land at Palma airport, usual feeling when we got off the plane, feels like an oven, beautiful weather and ready to get to the hotel but not before we find Mom ... read more

Ibiza quelle belle destination de rêve... Ibiza what a dreamful destination... J'y suis allée spécialement pour voir une très bonne copine, Célia. Elle y faisait son stage dans un Hôtel Resort. I went there specially to see a very good friend Célia. She was doing her internship there, in a Hotel Resort. Je suis parti de Barcelone très tôt le matin. Je suis donc arrivée dans le centre historique d'Eivissa pour prendre mon petit déjeuner entre ombre et soleil sur une place assez sympathique. I left Barcelona very early in the morning. I arrived in the historical center of Eivissa to take a good breakfast between the shades and the sun, on a very pleasant square. J'ai visité la vieille magnifique ville construite sur une colline. Les maisons sont blanches, embellies par plein de belles fleurs. ... read more

I arrived at Mallorca very late Wednesday night, my flight with Ryanair was delayed one hour but also only cost me 50 euros, so it was quite OK. After waiting in the airport the flight only took around 50 mins, I slept all the way. I arrived in the airport after the busses had stopped going, I was going to the port right next to the airport and decided for a taxi, the port is called Can Pastilla - at night it was a 15 euro taxi trip, cheaper in day time. There I met my father and his travel buddy Claus, him and his wife both retired and sold the house and are currently travelling around on their boat in Spain. We went on their little rubber boat (they did not want to pay the ... read more
