We leave tomorrow morning bright and early, but we just thought we´d end it all. Ryan managed to get a ticket just 50meters before dropping the bike back off at Hispana Tours today. The officer was not pleased, that he had made three traffic violations in a matter of thirty seconds and he was watching. It costs him 63 euro, and a wee heart attack. We managed to get the ticket down to two infractions instead of the three. He had to pay the ticket right on the spot, but didn´t have the money so I had to stay with the police, I suppose for insurance, that he would return ;) We say good bye to friendly people, fresh sea food, and the imaculate white buildings. ... read more

we arrived in Madrid and then flew to Malaga, where we were picked up by Eva, our Andalucia Travel agent. We were able to catch up on some Jet -leg and take in a flamenco show on the beach on the medaterian sea. So great - my dinners have consisted of lots of salt on fruit, which Im not use to but I love the rich coffees and all the tastes. Ryan can´t believe all the scooters we´ve seen, we´re surprised there isn´t scooter gangs. They handed over the BMW F650s yesterday, so were are very much ready to start our trip of the south. we don´t have a GPS, just maps; so I´m looking forward to getting lost! We´re finished breakfast and Anxious to start our Journey chau - Adios ... read more

A couple of days ago we went to the Feria celebration in downtown Malaga, followed by a corrida de toros (bull fight). It was a very fun and eventful day, if not a little exhausting. We drank too much Malaguenen wine - a sweet white wine, danced, and listened to the various flamenco bands and groups of women dressed in Sevillana serenade the masses with traditional songs. These are some of the photos from the day.... read more

Last night, the annual Feria event kicked off in Malaga. Around midnight, we walked down to the boardwalk with the kids to see the grand fireworks display that takes place at the port of Malaga. As I ran on the boardwalk yesterday morning, it was exciting to see all the festival booths being set up for the big concert taking place on the beach last night. We did not see the concert, since we had the kids and they were super tired. A couple of nights ago, Eva & I went downtown to dine and hang out with some of her old friends from the university - most of whom work as translators. It was fun to see all the preparations for the Feria in downtown as well. They hold the festival downtown during the day, ... read more

A couple of nights ago, Lucas, Ana (Eva's daughter), & I went to have tapas in downtown Malaga with my host bro Eugenio and his family. It has changed so much since I lived here 20 years ago, and is really cool! Lots of people out and about, and many streets are now closed to vehicle traffic. I took these pics while walking to and from the restaurant from Eu's house. So fun! You really get a sense of the modern justaposted with the past. It's magnificent!... read more

Lucas & I arrived safely a couple of days ago and have been to the beach each day. I´m making this posting in the hostel of my host sister Esther in downtown Malaga. It´s very cool, modern and hip, with beautiful Bougainvillea on the front terrace where people eat breakfast and hang out. This morning I met a German women and her son, a Portuguese couple, and a Dane with her half Danish/half Brazilian daughter. The Dane speaks Brazilian portuguese so we understand each other pretty well. It´s a lot easier to understand than Portugal portuguese. Lucas is definitely getting an international experience here. The Dane´s daughter only speaks Danish, but with kids they communicate well without language. We´re having a ball, and trying to get Lucas used to the time change. He´s made fast friends ... read more

Dear Friends & Family: Lucas & I take off tomorrow for our big trip to Malaga, Spain to visit my host family from when I lived there in high school. Hard to believe that was 20 years ago! Well, we've managed to remain in close touch and visit one another many times over the years, including our extended family on both sides. Dave & I are excited to introduce our little guy to my host family and to the castellano language. We've got a little side trip to Rabat, Morocco scheduled in there as well to visit my friend & colleague. Lucas is now 4 years old, and I've been speaking exclusively Spanish to him since March; he already understands just about everything, now we just need to get him to speak it. The next month ... read more
