On the 2nd had a long all day work in Sandoy island and took a bike ride about 8 km one way. On the way back was raining, but as saying goes- there is no bad weather just not proper clothes for it, so I was set pretty good and enjoyed it. It was my first bike ride here, season was opened. On the Thursday i hurt my back, what a pity, probably, after the most active winter in my life to get this, i dont remember having such pain ever. But i must continue going as it is the second from the last weekend here. Got ready as soon as I could and dressed properly as I could for a hike as I had ambitious plan to visit both highest points in Averoy island - Fagerfjellet 635 m and Meeknoken 751. Heading for Gulltanna, taking its slopes, walk is good as no snow, but wind much stronger than yesterday. Heading for Fagerfjellet, it translates as Beautifull Mountain, but somehow I always called it Easy Mountains and my mistake closer to the truth for me, on top so much space, so easy to walk even with some snow, really, like walk in the park.. Walked all over and changed my mind about going to Meeknoken as wind would blow me off it, I already got almost knocked down twice and was glad chosen best hiking clothes i had. 12th of March all day snow storms, took road trip in the mainland along the Kornstadfjorden, Kvernesfjorden. All the peaks I seen from Averoy accross fjord was so close - Harstadfjell 1004, Stokknokken 816 and the Frozen Wave, but with such weather not any accessible - too much snow. Couple short hikes on cleaned roads leading to the farms in the mountains.. 13th is nice day, so much snow though. Heading to Folland valley in Averoy. Pick up forest road and barely reach some tops on the hills on the East of the Valey. on top on the edge some bare rocks. Down doing short cut through forests and steep slopes. Still not enough walk, so take a road from Folland to Kornstad and back.... read more

Still perfect winter weather holding, just little bit more cloudy in the first part of the day. With my hiking companion we going to the further mountain which looked like pyramid from one side - Jendemsfelet 600m . That was good hike, took big part of the day, more snow than on my dream mountains, was windy on the top. Appeared, it kind of mountain by itself. I do register on every peak where there is a journal. Again parted with my friend and ended up at my dream mountain range..This time didnt take long walk through narrow mountain passage, but took much closer turn where path was marked clearly with 2m poles. Before getting there on the mountain road saw killed white rabbit without head and perfectly round hole in his belly. Sad sign somehow. ... read more

On the 26th some work and 3 hour hike on the hills of Averøy, sprinkle rain. So finally i caught up. Yesterday got up kind of late, headed out at 10 am, again the same rain. No idea where to go, I just think I can pick up by myself any spot in Averøy island, looked at some ideas on the map, but when arrived at one place, didnt have courage to start, so drove further, looked like nice not so tall mountains (2-300m), not much snow, but still not feeling like getting in to the rain.. Sat for a while in the car, phone chatting, snacking, looking at the map and decided to get for more taller mountains.. Finding accesses to hiking paths or even parking near main road still a problem for me. There ... read more
