Looks like hiking became my favorite activity in Norway, so I decided to start short updates on every hike. The first steep hike after countless hills among fjords was near the road 64 in Averøya island. Just stopped at the first place near mountain and headed straight to it. That is kind of my weakness, cant pass a mountain without that wish.. Was kind of steep climb without any trail. Appeared, i got on Kårvagberga of 242 meters and I was so happy to see all beauty around, but by now can tell that lots of it is spoiled by visual pollution - antennas, of course, not entirely :), but still counts. Because of the antenna, i found trail going down to another less steep side and took a walk down easy way. when got down, ... read more

In the morning heading to the mountains I looked for for so long on my daily walks. No study, just a try to look closer, try to climb whenever... Before that, I did stop to take pics of the sea and famous Atlantic road with my favorite mountains in the background. Perfect weather settled in - sunny, calm, in day 0C. Road 663 brings me amazingly close to the mountains, so I just pullover and go..went pretty high up, trees ended, steepness increased and i couldnt risk more as what looked possible became not. Never been this high, enjoyed the view. Was some fearful moments too and way down not as bad as going up. ... read more

On the 5th of Febr I had work on Storsandøya island and after it I had a stroll in very stormy weather - wind blowing through me and waves crashing over the rocks. Also, had a tour in the fishing boat. Time - less than 1 hour in open air. Sunday, the 6th of Febr. in the morning got in the car and decided to go around Averøya island as it was sprinkle rainy. Winters in general are mild here thanks to Gulf stream, which ends few hundred kilometers to the South from here. Other remarks about weather - South winds can be very strong and makes the sea very stormy compared to the North winds. I am from Lithuania, so for me there west winds from the Baltic sea usually means storm and precipitation, here ... read more

Another perfect day. Meeting MM at 8:30 am on the Atlantic road. We start with leisure hike near the sea, Farstadbukta has a sandy beach which not often can be seen here. Saw lots of swans in the bay or fjord and then pair of eagles. After that nice hike near town Bud where no snow on the Gulberget 160 m, still pretty nice and big area to walk. On the way back 2-3pm MM shows me road which takes close to my dream mountain range, approaching it from different side, with more easy access and entire road as beginning of the trail, probably using horses in summer. MM leaves me there and I go by myself. Was very nice hike, intense too, after Skottenvatnet lake one narrow passage by which few people walked to the ... read more
