So, after our wonderful blarney castle experience, Lisa and i planned on visiting the cliffs of moher, however due to the high cost of getting there, we decided to head to killarney and take a day trip to the dingle peninsula instead. Lisa got a little sick, so we took it easy. the trip to the peninsula was nice, but would have been awesome had the weather cooperated. I might as well have been in a hockey rink in a bathing suit....it was rainy and so cold, and the fog was so dense, it made it difficult to make out the beautiful coast line. However, we did manage to get a few decent pictures....which youºll eventually be able to see when i get to a computer where i can post them. some gripes....i woke up ... read more

We landed in Shannon around 10am Ireland time (US time 5am)... We got the rental car and started on our way to Adare. We walked the main street and took some picures from afar. During the trip we have been able to get into some places or take pictures from outside. We then went to check in at our first B&B. The for the next leg of the day.... We went to Ross Castle in Killarney... we walked from our B&B to get there.... about 2km (1km equals 0.6 miles) We got there in time for the tour inside but not allowed to take pictures inside. Then there was the walk back taking a different route.... through the woods.... it was a longer walk...... ... read more

Tonight is our last night on the Emerald Isle. The sights have been amazing, and the people have been great. The locals have been more than accomidating, some going out of their way to help up. One woman at a bus stop ran into the store we were in to alert us that our bus had arrived. A repair man ran after us to give us some eye drops from his first aide kit when the store we were in had none. Its been everything that I've hoped for, and am sad to leave it behind. I didn't find a shilelah though, just painted sticks. Maybe I expected to much. On to Istanbul!... read more

Dublin Yeah for some free internet here in Sheila's Hostel in Cork, Ireland. So greetings to all at home. We are now in a country where their weather gods like Laura and myself and have blessed us with some decent temperatures and sunshine. So our past two days have been spent in the Irelands capital Dublin. Most of you probably know that Dublin is quite famed for their pub life. We were lucky enough to find a bar around the corner that offered free traditional Irish music and dance but do to low funds we decided to head back to the hostel. Cork Today we headed to the small tourist town of Blarney who's most popular attraction is the Blarney Castle. Most people enter the Blarney castle to do one thing and that's to kiss ... read more

I, Janie, have been seeing this in alot of the tourist shops, and I thought it was kind of funny, so I thought I'd post it. Love the part about tipping. Travelers' Prayer ‘Heavenly Father, look down on us your humble, obedient tourist servants, who are doomed to travel this earth, taking photographs, mailing postcards, buying souvenirs and walking around in drip-dry underwear.’ ‘Give us this day divine guidance in the selection of our hotels, that we may find our reservations honoured, our rooms made up and hot water running from the faucets.’ ‘We pray that the telephones work, and the operators can speak our tongue.’ ‘Lead us, dear Lord, to good, inexpensive restaurants where the food is superb, the waiters friendly and the wine included in the price.’ Give us the wisdom to tip correctly ... read more

Due to Travelblog's system failure... yes... I said it before, I lost ten articles. So I'm re-publishing them and I'm sorry for filling your mailbox. If you haven't read them, here they are again, and enjoy. Sorry for the inconvenience, my friends. Footprints & Our Path Eighty-six days—slowly, the days pass, ticking down as we cross the map with our footprints.
