Today we woke refresh and all ran thru the shower in an effort to get on the road for our cliffs adventures. Joe the hippie who ran the hostel told us over a special path to take in order to get spectacular views of the cliffs. So we packed the car and headed directly to the cliffs which were only a few miles away. We pulled off the main road and climbed thru several fields and over some barbed wire and we were rewarded with the most spectacular views of the cliffs. Tara and I spent a good amount of time on our stomachs hanging over the edge of the clliffs in order to get the perfect shot from several angles. It was amazing! After our first perch on hag's head, we climbed up the side ... read more

Olin mustassa kauluspaidassa, jossa on valkeita ympyröitä ja pari naista halusi tulla kuvatuksi kanssani.... read more

I always knew Ireland was a rainy country, but I never guessed it would rain this much during the summer time. Since my cousin Conor and I have been here, it has rained off and on everyday. Despite being perpentually wet, we're still having a blast lugging our bags around in the rain. We arrived in Shannon tues morning and caught our good friend, Bus Eireann, to a small town on the northern banks of the River Shannon called Kilrush. On the way to Kilrush, we had a three hour wait to switch buses in Ennis. Since we were fresh off the plane, we thought it would be no problem to spend some time sightseeing around Ennis. Well, we lasted for about an hour before we decided to head back to the bus station and just ... read more

July 10, 2008 Killarney to Cliffs of Moher to Doolin, County Clare, Ireland Leaving Killarney, we begin out trek north to the Cliffs of Moher. The roads are again narrow and have either rock walls or hedges instead of a shoulder. There are signs everywhere Road Improvement funded by European Union...what was it like before?? Which brings us to Ireland's economy...which is quite good. Everything ...and I mean everything is expensive. Meats, produce, wine/beer, baked goods, etc. is double as compared to the continent, except for Italy and Switzerland. To be honest England and Wales roads were no better and the roads in Dartmoor were worse. The Cliffs of Moher, even shrouded in mist and rain, are breathtaking. The sheer rock face, with its layers of black shale and sandstone provide sheltered ledges where many sea ... read more

Woke up this morning and Mark looked out the window. “You’re not going to believe this but there’s blue sky out there.” He was right, I didn’t believe it but it was true! Blue sky! Today’s destination: the Cliffs of Moher. Almost every traveler we had talked to along the way said this was a 4-star site and both guide books we have relied on heavily (Rick Steves and the Frommer’s Ireland from $90 a Day) said it is not to be missed. Mark was really whipped after the Dingle driving yesterday and we had looked at booking a tour for the Cliffs but he woke up full of energy this morning and said he’d like to drive. My first waking thought was that I hadn’t seen the ticket for the parking garage since we checked ... read more

Day1 We arrived in DC without any major delays and were able to meet up with Erin’s old roommate Steph for lunch before we headed to Erin’s Uncle and Aunts place. Thankfully theu lets us park our car at their house while we were gone. In addition, Erin’s uncle John drove us to Dulles for our departure. We started off by waiting in a massive line to get our tickets and check our baggage. We seem to pick all the quickest lines to get through security and made it to our gate with plenty of time to spare. Before leaving we stopped at a bar in the airport for a drink to start off our vacation. We both opted for a Corona thinking that it wouldn’t be the “beer of choice” in Ireland. Once we were ... read more

If you want to know how I saw an alpaca in real life you need to read through. This Saturday I headed out to the west of Ireland for a sightseeing adventure. I went with a friend of mine from JMC, Kelly, who came here to study abroad for a month! I went with her and a bunch of people from her program who were all really nice girls, one guy, one woman who was in her 40's, and their program faculty people---interesting mix, huh? All nice people, all happy times. We headed out wicked early on Saturday (6am) to catch the 8am train from Dublin to Limerick. It took a few hours and the train ride was grand. We got there and met up with our tour guide who collected us (I am picking up ... read more

This was our last full day before flying home. We stopped at Kylemore Abbey which gave us some great photo opportunities. We drove through the countryside enjoying the scenery and we even had to stop for sheep which were being herded down the middle of the road. Our next stop was Cong, where the John Wayne classic "The Quiet Man" was filmed and is currently home to Ashford Castle. Ashford Castle, once owned by the Guinness Family now serves as a luxury hotel. ($500 USD per night with a two night minimum. Needless to say, we did not sleep here.) Winding down, we headed to the Cliffs of Moher for a great, windy view.... read more
