I love my bottom bunk bed. I did about an hour work on the garden and finished all my tasks. Thank god, Im tired of garden work. The lady said I was free for the day so I went to cliffs of Moher. What a beautiful place. I mean it was amazing, and it was sunny. Tonight Im off to a pub for a party. One of my french friends are moving to Northern Ireland. So we are saying good bye. ... read more

We have been out of internet access for the past few days and unable to update the blog. In a nutshell we arrived in Portrush last Wednesday, stayed for two nights before moving on to Ballycastle for one night and then around Fair Head (of which much more later!) and into a marina in Glenarm Co. Antrim. We are stuck there with the weather so took a day trip to Belfast today Monday. Just had an amazing tour of the Falls and the Shankill. Hope we can move on tomorrow to Bangor... read more

Early departure. Luckily the two hour ride to Limerick was quiet, no commentary, so we were able to sleep. We really lucked out on the weather today, it poured when we were on the bus, but was fairly nice whenever we got off. We finally figured out to do the outdoor activity immediately if its.not raining, then head indoors if it showers. We headed west, met up in Limerick with the day tour from Dublin. Milan, our guide today was excellent. We hung out with the Aussies today, Julia Fox and her Mum. Really nice women, the Mum a very recent widow of 80ish. Her daughter is with her for an Ireland tour before the granddaughters wedding in Montreaux during the Jazz Festival. We went by bus, still part of Railtours Ireland DH 06 tour. We ... read more

Sorry this one is a day late! i thought i updated it and completely forgot somehow :P on the 17th, I got up super-early even though we were out drinking to close and caught an 8am bus to the Cliffs of Moher. It was super-foggy, to the point of being dangerous if there weren't barriers set up all along the cliff. I got some decent pics, but it's really hard to tell by looking at them how cool of a moment was. It was like being at the edge of the world. It was amazing. I took a short video, just to record the sounds and to try and catch the mist gusting up the side of the cliffs. it was a visit full of amazing moments. After that, i walked what was probably 10k back ... read more

We left our Doolin B & B at about 9am and drove to the Cliffs of Moher. We are blessed with another beautiful sunny day, though quite windy. You drive into a very big carpark at the Cliffs of Moher and walk up to cliffs. We spent about 4hours here taking in the beauty of it all. The views are spectacular and the bird life abundant. I think the photos say it all. We followed some other tourists through a hole in a fence and walked a very narrow, and at times, scary path along the clifftop,. We also climbed up the windy staircase in O'Brien's viewing tower (even though it was OUR tower, they still made us pay.....some nerve!) After a fabulous time walking along the cliff top and taking in the views we made ... read more

After anther delicious breakfast we took off, we were headed for Doolin with some stops along the way. We are finding it funny that we are often times the youngest by many many years at the B&Bs and have been told more than once how great it is that we are traveling now and not waiting. Getting a “getting a good for you” is always nice. Anyway, on we drove – we are finding that we really didn’t need to take so much time, that really everything is a lot closer, a lot less treacherous and a lot less winding than we had been lead to believe. We had read on another person’s blog that they took the ferry from Tarbert to Killimer would save 2 hours worth of driving…so we took the ferry, relatively fast ... read more

Friday (20/8/2010) After a quieter night our friend had left due to the inclement weather we set off early for a morning run. We moved our car to the free day car park and picked up some supplies for a picnic lunch. Next, we hired a couple bikes and set off for Torc Mountain. We took in the beautiful scenery as we road along the lake past some old famous house . After a minor detour (riding 3km in the wrong direction..opps) we parked our bikes at the base of Torc waterfall (which was beautiful) and made our way on foot of the mountain. Along an alternating pebble and sleeper path we climbed, and climbed and climbed! At each turn hoping we’d reached the top only to discover it was a bluff and we still had ... read more

******* IRELAND ******** CORK . We arrived in Cork at 10.20pm and stayed at the airport hotel. The next morning we took a 10 minute taxi to central Cork, the driver supplying us with a wealth of information about the city. You couldn't really call it a city, it was more like a large village. Lynette likened it to a large Bendigo. Cork was not as picturesque as other places we had seen, it was unique in that the main part of the town was situated between a forked river so the many bridges around the outer edges had their own charm. Several hills surrounded Cork and it was nestled in a bowl as the taxi driver described it. We had a great view from the top level of the Ambassador Hotel's 3 story building which ... read more

Journey to the Cliffs of Moher with beautiful views - John took a 'rare' picture of a puffin. Travelled through the matchmaking festival at Lisdoonvarna organised by the local priest. Went through the Burren - glaciated limestone valley. Lunched at Galway. Found the original lynching site of Mayor Lynch's son. John and Geoff re-enacted the lynching. Arrived in Dublin, our accommodation is by the 'whiffy' Liffey River. Went to the 3 Rock Hotel to watch Irish comedian Noel V Ginnity, lovely ladies Riverdancing, and Irish singers.... read more
