Bulduğumuz yer "Fabrika" di... read more

Well we arrived at the port, the boat is more than we had expected amasing. Two full days at sea lounging around the pool - everyone is friendly and anything goes dress code wise lol. So much live entertainment to see and do. Viewed one side of the boat this morning other side tomorrow - huge. Have just arrived at Mykonos beautiful white buildings everywhere it's like a small village. The harbour is full of cruise liners. Our room is great, the sliding door greats us to the wide open Mediterranean. Wi-fi is 24€ on the boat for 35 minutes very expensive. So we are sitting at a wee cafe on shore - free wi-fi, free toilet with cold gin in hand. the sun here is so different here, it's hot but you don't get burnt. ... read more

Arrived in Mykonos by ferry and we were met by our wonderful host Marietta. She took us to our accommodation, then on a tour of the town. The next day, we explored the tiny streets, visited the windmills and then Little Venice, where we found a wonderful bar to take in the sunset. On Sunday, we took the ferry to Delos, a world heritage site, to visit the ruins and climbed the hill to the temple precinct with its wonderful views. On Monday, we spent the day at Paradise beach. After dinner, we returned to our favourite bar, where we watched a singer performing show tunes. Tuesday was a chill out day. In the evening, we met up with a friend and had dinner. We also met one of Mykonos’ famous residents, a pelican. We really ... read more

Athens and Mykonos I arrived in Athens after an uneventful flight, managed to navigate the metro and met a very metro Italian man called Francesco who tried to convince me to go out with him. I found the hostel without any dramas and then searched the Athens directory for a camera store so I coyld buy a battery charger for my camera. Luckily there was one two streets away! Phillip found me a temporary solution and I was happy to depart with the assurance I wouldn't be without my slr for the Greek Islands. He was also an avid traveller and we chatted for nearly an hour about our various adventures. I spent the afternoon walking around town and found a super cute church and although Athens is covered in graffiti and rubbish, I enjoyed my ... read more

Set off in the morning for the 30 minute ferry to Delos. This is by far the most sacred island in the Cyclades, and explains why these islands are called the Cyclades in the first place. Delos is at the very center, is the heart of the islands, which therefore surround it in a large circle (they are placed cyclically around Delos). In relation to mythology, this supposedly was the birthplace of Artemis and Apollo, the goddess of the night, and the god of the sun. Whatever the myth might be, though, you can understand being on Delos how gods of light (the night and the day) could be invented here. There's a certain magic to the light, like it doesn't quite fall right... maybe more at an angle or something. It certainly makes for a ... read more

One of those absolutely great days of travel that makes all of the little problems along the way seem not only worthwhile, but essentially meaningless in the big scheme of things. Set off from Piraeus on the 7:35 ferry to Mykonos. And really I don't think ferry is the right word. These are basically cruise ships that are huge and have restaurants, bars, gift shops, you name it. So the 5 1/2 hours it took to get to Mykonos went relatively fast, and was broken up by stopping at the islands of Syros and Tinos on the way. Mykonos is the first great Cycladic island you reach if you set off from Athens. It's most famous for its just-across-the-water location to Delos, the heart and center of the Cyclades, and home to the most important ruins ... read more

Hey hey!! So this morning we left from Athens to Mykonos we were very excited!! So far Mykconos has lived up to its reputation of being an awesome place! The plane trip only took 20 minutes. On arrival we took a Mercedes taxi to the hotel!!! We've never been in a Mercedes before!! The taxi driver was really nice too. Mykonos is filled with beautiful views, crystal blue water and awesome weather. The lady at the hotel was really nice and showed us to our rooms which are great! Oh and also there is an outdoor pool with those wooden deck chairs. We decided to head out and we found scooters for hire. So we've hired three, Izzy and i are on one, Shama and Nana are on a quad bike and james has his own ... read more

We made it to Athens fairly easily and I have to say I love the weather. Sunshine and smiles. I've already turned into a deep bronze ( not ). More of a singlet tomato. When I introduce myself as Stonehouse, they will expect the native background "hey how are ya, hey how are ya..." Half German, half wetaskawin. So anyway, we were able to check out the very very cool Greek mythology. Let's just say bkslizz was in his element. The guy must have went 14 for 16 on facts. Shit yea I must have taken at least 14 pics with him with him explaining the old Greek mythology to our group. And 14 more of him giggling when seeing the acropolis. Which I cannot mock him for because it was very cool Does anyone remember ... read more

I’m sorry I haven’t blogged in a long time, midterms and term papers are really kicking my ass. But anyway, since my last post, I’ve visited Mykonos, Crete, Ancient Olympia, and braved two riots. I’ve been a little busy. I’ll just tell you about Mykonos now and save the rest for a rainy day. Well, for a sunny day-- it doesn’t rain in Athens. First of all, Mykonos is amazing. It was probably the best weekend of my life. I loved every minute of it. Let me just let you all know, however, that I didn’t go during prime party season, which I’ve heard is rather ridiculous. We went in late September, so the tourism had died down quite a bit. This really kind of worked to our advantage though, because there was very little traffic, ... read more
