Day 48 (Part 2): Rome during the World Cup So being in the center of the country that wins the World Cup Finals is NUTS!! There were about 200,000 people in Circus Maximus, watching 3 big screen TVs and waving Italian Flags. We enjoyed being in the middle of the crowd, but also went up the hill to look down at the crowd. IT was great to watch the people. It went to shootouts and when France missed for the second time, the crowd just went crazy. It was definately an experience, as high as being at Stanley Cup Game 7 or Denver winning the Superbowl. Day 49: Monday, July 10: Rome Today we headed back into Rome and went straight for the Vatican Museum line. We got in in about an hour, which wasn't too ... read more

Hi All, Its a hard life lazing on a Greek Island for a week! Corfu is an island in the Ionian Sea which has the most amazing blue/torquoise and cystal clear waters. Cathy, Brian (Vic's parents), Vic and I rented out a villa on the peaceful North East coast of the island with panoramic views over the water and over to Albania which is just 1.5 miles across the water! The first few days mainly comprised of lazing by the pool, swimming at our local private pebble beach and sampling some delicous local food and wine at our local taverna. Day four included a day trip to Albania and what an experience! This country was under Communist rule for 50 years until 1990 and is still in a period of transition. Here we were greeted by ... read more

so technology OFFICIALLY hates me, n not just a little bit, but with a vengeance. we get 35 min internet cards and i currently have 5 min left because that's how long it took to load this page. not only that but this is the first day we've HAD internet access, and on top of everything my phone is telling me that i have 2 min left on the SIM card even though i haven't been able to call ANYONE or even get phone calls for about a week... so just so u know mom and dad, u can ask my roommate -i've tried to call about 5 times everday for the past week and a half and it won't go through, it just kicks into emergency mode and shuts down, so i can't even try ... read more

SO SORRY EVERYONE!! i know it's been FAR too long since i've written, but upon getting to the pink palace it seems as if life has been a blur and the chance to get to the internet is near non existant. there's a CONSTANT line of guests out the door waiting for a computer, but it seems i've found the magic witching out- dinner time! so, here it goes... we pulled into corfu and i went straight away on the bus to the pink palace (i'm conveniantly leaving out the part where UD was over protective w/ magda -my boss- but it's ok, he's allowed his moments!!)... so the bus ride is insane, there are no lane lines and the roads are crazy steep with all these wicked curves, so we nearly died multiple times. i ... read more

Day 41: May 16 - GREECE - Corfu (Kerkyra) Accommodation: Hotel Frini, Corfu Another evil early hour rise this morning as the ferry was getting ready to dock at Corfu. We were told to assemble at the back of the ship around 5:30am and the sun was still rising over the hills we left behind coming into the coast. It was still a really nice view though so with tired eyes I gazed at it and took a few eerie-looking photos. We pulled in just after 6am (I was mumbling to myself that I could've stayed in bed longer) and got onto the bus and moved onto our hotel for the next 4 days. Excitement should've been high but we were all still a bit tired. We were given the usual Contiki briefing i.e. where to ... read more

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated, Mom please don't be worried! You do watch too much CSI! I am safe and sound and somewhat tanned. I had a full day on the train from Roma to Brindisi, met a really cool girl on the train named Lauren and let me say that the deck seats on the ferry were not that bad, just little chairs. I had the place almost to myself, but not much sleep. I arrived at the Pink Palace in Corfu at 5:30am and it's been great. I"ve met tons of cool people and we've been hanging out on the beach all day. The first day we went on a 4-wheeler safari which was SO fun, we went all day all over the island, off roading to the highest points and ... read more

HEY ALL Today is our last day in greece, and it sucks to go. I would love to go see a few more places here, but theres not enough time to do it all!! Our bus picks us up at six tonight, then we catch a local ferry to the mainland, and then catch the long ferry ride back to ancona, where brit and i leave kaley and her cousins to catch a train to Rome. we're both sooo excited to go to Rome, we heard that there are 2 Saints dead bodies in the vatican city that miraculously never decomposed and they are both enclosed in glass coffins for people to see. crazy, hey?? Today was really good, actually it was okay because i was really hung over. hah!! last night was the infamous toga ... read more
