We got up bright and early this morning at 6:45 am as we wanted to have a proper breakfast in the dining room. Up until today, we have eaten our breakfast in the Garden Café, which is the self-service buffet. They do offer some very nice selections of food and plenty of it, but it is incredibly noisy. The noise level can really be distracting from enjoying your food. We chose to eat in the Tsar’s Palace dining room and enjoyed a lovely breakfast of grapefruit juice, smoked salmon eggs benedict, along with some fresh tropical fruit and some hash browns, topped off with a cappucino. Yummy! The day was absolutely astoundingly beautiful. The temperature was listed as 64 degrees F, but in actuality it was more like 84. Perhaps their thermometer was off. We were ... read more

-more like it destroyed us. Now where was I? The four of us parted ways as Steve, Sas and I planned our Greek Island adventures, with Steve heading towards the Cyclades in the Aegean and Sas and myself heading for Corfu in the Pleiades which was on the way to Italy. Our decision saved me from a night camping on the beach near the port in Athens, but as far as I know, Steve still did it on his own. We packed up, ate a tasty spaghetti dinner which Seb cooked up, picked up our giant backpacks and headed towards the Athens metro - without any Greek translators this time. We had to make our way to the Hostel Aphrodite to meet the Pink Palace Express bus which would bring us across the country and directly ... read more

How many of you have ever taken the B.C. ferries over to Vancouver island? imagine that but a bit bigger with a pool, casino, sevral bars, a night club and a hotel, and thats what the ferry that runs from Venice to the Corfu, a little island off the coast of Greece. You might be thinking "wow that sounds awesome" and its not to bad for the first 4 hours, but 22 hours of being on a boat where everything is to expensive to enjoy gets old really fast, I now understand that song form pulp fiction, "playing solitaire till down with a deck of fifty one" because thats what i did, i had to use the a joker as the five of diamonds. And if your wondering why i had to stay up so ... read more

In a nutshell; PARTY! Well actually there's more than that and it started on a little night bus that left from the heart of Athens overland and ferry to Corfu. I cant sleep on buses and especially not this one so entertained myself talking to canadian Sarah and Chris, playing Nintendo and watching Seinfeld. We rolled in to the Pink Palace at 5am to be greeted with welcome Ouzo shots, this set the tone for the week; no sleep and lots of drinking :D The Pink Palace is almost like a resort and includes meals with optional activites happening each day. I tried to grab a few winks after arriving before heading down the 193 steps to the breakfast kitchen on the beach front. It was a beautiful day and i was informed they would be ... read more

Corfu - Playtime at The Pink Palace Leaving Rome, we were forced to backtrack through Bari to Brindisi, Italy before catching a ferry to Corfu Island, Greece. In Brindisi, we stayed the night in a little apartment/hotel complex near the port for convenience. In the morning when we enquired about buses or a taxi, the family that ran the complex was nice enough to offer us a ride to the ferry. We arrived at 11:00 AM giving ourselves our standard two hour leeway for our 1:00 departure. We had prepaid for our tickets online, so all we had to do was check in. It was a quiet little ferry port, reminding me of the ferry dock on the south end of Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound where I grew up. We inquired about check-in at ... read more
