I can not believe that yesterday I found myself face to face with what the locals call the the legend of munich. It all began as quite a normal day, the sun was out casting an even hue of muggy light rays down onto hundreds of peaceful happy germans. yaz di geermans. quite nice people in general, despite all the history of violence. We decided to do a bike tour, mike's bike tour to be exact, and I highly recco this type of tour. It's a good oppertujnity to see the city, learn about what the buildings represent and the stories and history behind it all. Steve O. our tour guide from Ireland was a fun person to hang with, these guys and gals in gereral are probably a fun bunch to hang out with. We ... read more

OK, let's see what we can do with this blog thingy... This is just some information for all those who don't know me or haven't heard from me personally what I'm up to. After my first bike tour last summer (on the Elberadweg) I found a description of the North Sea Cycle Route on the web. I really liked the idea of doing that route, but with 6,000 km it is a bit long for a regular vacation. But I planned to try it sometimes in a few years. During this spring I realized I really needed a longer break from work, and I remembered that interesting north sea route. Why not? After all, I already made 800 km on a totally flat route, with nice weather and a tailwind most of the time. How much ... read more

Photos from the previous blog are now up too! Well I've now arrived in Lubeck, a beautiful city indeed (thanks lonely planet) on a warm and sunny and yes windy day! The wind if anything is getting stronger, and today I had a gentle (?!) 30 miler in the morning to get here. Actually most of the way was a very nice ride following the route of an old railway line through gently undulating countryside (note even gently undulating is tough on a fully loaded tourer) with deer and rabbits frolicking in the grass either side and huge wheat fields everywhere, and almost as huge farmhouses at all the villages on the way. Well it may sound like everything has gone completely smoothly since yesterday, but not quite! Firstly having left Gluckstadt with the ambition to ... read more
Another wild campsite, this time in a field with deer running across!
A typical German farmhouse - enormous!
The first sighting of... a hill!
