Bonjour! Cara et moi sommes arrivé à Paris. We are staying at 12 rue de la Ferronnerie in the Marais near the Metro Chatelet. Look us up at www.mapquest.fr. Our apartment is expectedly small but it has what we need. Our location is fantastic. The Pompidou Center is less than a 5 minute walk and the Notre Dame is just over 5 minutes. There's a boulangerie, an épicerie, some boucheries, cafés, and other French words right outside our window and at night, the adjacent Rue de St. Denis street is totally party central! Anyway, the last time I had any sleep was in Iceland so take care everyone.... read more

Hi All, So we saw the bridge. Saw the palais des papes, we went to Aix-en-Provence, which has beautiful buildings, churches, we saw an amazing cloister, each pole was different, and beautiful buildings. In Aix we also went to a market and tried samples of local foods like strawberries, and calisons, and melon. We also ate bull. We visited Villeneuve des Avingon, a short walk from Avignon, there we saw an amazing garden on a mountain, which had an olive grove, and rose garden and amazing views, we saw an mideval cloister as well, and explored the village. Yesterday we went to Arles, saw stuff out of Van Gough paintings, mideval and romanseque churches, and roman ruins, and walked along the Rhone. Another thing of note is that we met up with a Canadian from Calgary ... read more

Well once you see the picture below, we ll save you the trouble and just tell you now that YES, that is Kevin Bacon. And is you saw Bridget Joans Diary you,ll notice Colin Firth was with him also. After leaving Barcelona we headed back into France and we both agree this is one of our favorite spots so far, Cannes and Nice. We loved it here... We again stayed in tiny cabins but they are clean and warm so it works. So again after we arrived we just had some more cheap wine (amanda is slowly getting a taste for wine... hehe, possibly because its the cheapest thing around?) and played some cards... The next day we took the train into Cannes and lucky for us the International Film Festival is on. So we got ... read more

Raining in Paris, so headed south and crashed in Bordeaux for three nights. Hostel was a little far out of town, so had my own room, with TV in the centre. Bordeaux is nice and if I wanted to splash out $50 - 100AUS, could do wine tours, or cheese tours but think I´m a bit spoilt at home with the choice already, so opted for a few bottles of the local vino from the supermarket and lounged about watching the Star Wars trilogoy in French :)..... peering out my window across all the roofs and lying about in gardens. Should have moved on to Biarritz etc but all the buses and trains were not running on the days I needed, so ended up feeling a bit stranded and restless. Sunday markets were fun and the ... read more

A city of contrasts. Unbelievably extravagant buildings, with fantastic statues, and ornamentation. Dog droppings on the pavement. A superb public transport system, in the Metro, and RER train networks. But you are in danger of being run down when crossing the road - even when on a pedestrian crossing, with a green light. Incredible cathedrals - we visited Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, and Saint Chappele. Rampant consumerism along the Champs Elysees. At Notre Dame, you can climb the towers, all the way to the top, and pretend to be one of the gargoyles. The Louvre has too much stuff, and is absolutely huge. The Eiffel Tower is ridiculously tall. I went no higher than the second level, feeling rather uncomfortable at the prospect of the final lift ride to the top. A magical place to visit. ... read more

So after a fun day in Nimes, a great last day in Barcelona-we went to the beach, it was cold but fun, we are now in Avignon. Nimes was interesting had steak and ratouille and some great wine. More importantly the ruins were so well preserved and the canals so beautiful. It is such a beautiful city. This morning on the train we saw the castle used in the last siege by Simon de Montfort on the Cathars, it was neat. Today we are doing laundry, getting orriented and figuring out how to get to Aix, our day trip tommorow. The weekend we plan on visiting the old city of Avignon and its gothic ruins as well as Villeneuve des Avignon, and going to the see the bridge. No plans for Monday yet, since there could ... read more

yesterday was so much fun!! i went bike riding with a girl i met the day before. we went on this ride to all these castles (none of which we saw, but anyway). we left at about 11ish and at 1.30ish it started absolutely pouring and didn't stop for about an hour!! we were saturated. we seriously looked like we'd just had a shower with all our clothes on. it was so fun. we were laughing the entire time. i'm loving this belgian countryside. absolutely dead flat. we came across this gorgeous tea house just as it stopped raining and i had my belgian experience. chocolate waffles!! so yummy. so so so good. we felt so bad, we were dripping all over the floor but the shop owners were just laughing at us looking like drowned ... read more
