Up early to catch the 9.30 boat to Calais. In the campervan queue to get on we met a very friendly couple who recommended a site at La Fleche which is situated just north of Anger on the Loir river (not to be confused with the Loire as I did). We headed for La Fleche and arrived at about 6.30. It’s about 280 miles from Calais.... read more

My first couch surfing experience could not have been any better. Language school was finished, bags were gone, and pretty much most of the group had left Cologne. So Justus and I decided...lets go to France! Warum Nicht!? (Why not?) - This is going to become my new motto for life I think. I stayed out a bit too late on Friday...ok 4 am...partying the night away with the kids from our exchange group. Great way to end our 2 months in Cologne, but didn't fare to well when my alarm went off at 7 am in the morning. I somehow managed to move and get myself to the train station on time for our 8:30 train. Didn't get a whole lot of sleep on the train, was interested in seeing a bit of the countryside ... read more

September 30, 2007 We’ll always have Paris!! I can’t believe our much anticipated month in Paris is almost over. I am sitting here in our apartment for the last time writing this blog. It was the absolute fastest month of my life and perhaps the best. Paris is my favorite place in the world….which I can say with much more certainty after the last several weeks. Scott and the kids don’t agree…Will liked Switzerland, Scott liked Krakow, and Justin liked them all! Paris however…is the city of my dreams, exciting, fun, lovely friendly people (yes this is true!!) … great food, fabulous history and the best fashion in the world…what more can a girl ask for! I love the shops, walking around all the various and diverse neighborhoods, the metro, the flowers, the sites and even ... read more

Tänään vietimme koko päivän kotosalla. Kouluhommia riitti pitkälle iltaan ja syysflunssakin painoi päälle. Sunnuntain pelasti illallinen koulukavereidemme kanssa paikallisessa intialaisessa Bombay-ravintolassa. Tapasimme kello 20 ravintolassa, ja ruokailemaan pääsimme puoli kymmenen aikaan. Tunnelma oli katossa. Maistelimme ristiin rastiin annoksia ja söimme jopa sormin. Mikä voisikaan paremmin yhdistää eri kansoja kuin ruoka? Siitä riittikin juttua. Illalla kotona mietimme taas kerran... Miksi ihmeessä ihminen aina syö itsensä pyörryksiin? No, täyden vatsan viereen on mukava käydä nukkumaan. : ) Mukavaa alkavaa työviikkoa kaikille! Well, about time I put in an update. I actually have found time to get away from the hum drum of working life and see a bit more of Europe. Michelle and I decided we should get to France, so booked two weeks off work and set off to see as much of the place as we could in our limited time frame. It started with the Eurostar from London to Paris. What a great way to get to another country, just jump on a train! In France we stayed in a hostel which was about 15mins walk from the Eiffel tower. While there we did all the major touristy things, obviously went up the Eiffel tower, went to the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe and walked down the Champs Elysee. We also went on a walk ... read more

Hei kaikille lukijoillemme! Koulu on nyt sitten alkanut pikkuhiljaa ja opiskeluelämä tuntuu luissa ja ytimissä. No, luissa kyllä eniten tuntuu tämä Grenoblen kostea ilmasto. Kävimme tänä viikonloppuna Grand'Place'in Carrefourissa (paikallinen Citymarket) ja ostimme toiset peitot vuoteisiimme. Kaksoisikkunat, lattialämmitys... ikkunatiivisteet.. niistä tuskin täällä on kuultukaan. : ) Tällä vii... read more

Nothing profound to report tonight, really. Tonight, David and I went into Paris on a whim and ate a beautiful, delicious, long dinner on the Boulevard Saint Germain. French onion soup, lamb chops, scalloped potatoes, strawberries in champagne, and - of course - a good bottle of wine. We sat outside on the terrace and ate and talked and watched people go by. It was a pleasant, impromptu evening, and it was nice to be able to spend some time with such a good friend and talk about some real things. Don’t get me wrong - meeting people is great. I love the people I’m meeting, I love talking about cultural differences, life in the states, etc., but a little comfortable yet deep conversation was definitely much appreciated. I am quite happy at present. ... read more

Dijon I've finally worked out how to make a blog! Ok so welcome everyone to my new web travel blog! I have decided to make this as everyone is asking me similiar questions and im spending ages repeating the same stuff to everyone and then ppl are getting annoyed for not being told personally, so hopefully i'll update this every week and keep you all in the loop. France is absolutely AMAZING! It is soo beautiful, and old, and stunning and WOW! But i'm sure you've noticed that from my pictures already : ) Dijon is its own little version of France with quaint little alleyways and cobbled roads and big regional flags flying in the streets. The only real problem with Dijon is the weather (i cant believe im complaining already!) and the shop opening ... read more

Europe » France » Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur » Nice September 30th 2007

Where do I start..... Nice has been a crazy adventure. The old town has some of the best shopping (no huge brands either) on these tiny little roads where they pack in as much as they can. Alex and I had a great time running around those for a few hours. I saw some stuff I would love to get for friends..... perhaps I will go back today to get said things; depending on if I can get to Italy. But yes, the beach is blissfull and breathtaking and the Med just blew me away. I cant load pictures now, but once I can it will be a million pictures of what probably looks qll the same. I spent a day there alone and met some english speaking blokes, one being very helpful. From there I ... read more

It has been a long time between travel stories we know, but we have been saving hard for a few months for a nice long holiday!! This time, Jacqui would be joining us from Oz. So first off Jacqui would be coming to London for a quick tour. She arrived in London all safe and sound, but her luggage didnt. luckily for her, and the lady at the luggage counter, it had been left in Amsterdam and it would be delivered the next day. Our first stop on our whirlwind European adventure was a quick train trip through the channel to Paris. We had a great choice of hotels which was in the middle of the Bronx!!! it felt like we had been dropped off in India too!! that is what you get when you book ... read more
