Today we ventured out into Brugge to explore this qaint little town. We just picked a direction and walked, we explored some of the canals, the market square and Kaitlin inspected a lot of clothing shops.. :) After that we headed over to the Belguim chocolate factory to see what we wanted to try today.. We picked up about 15 chocolates and they were all yummy. After lunch we decided that we wanted to come back and watch the movie In Bruge. The movie was sort of depressing but it was funny at the same time especially since we were sitting in the city it was about. Once that was finished we decided to head out and just walk the streets randomly and take pictures. (we have attached a few). We started to head back to ... read more

“If I grew up on a farm, and was retarded, Bruges might impress me but I didn't, so it doesn't.” - Colin Farrell (In Bruges) Bruges....what a city. Friendly people, great food (only in some places) and fantastic architecture. What did I do in Bruges? Walked and walked and walked some more. It’s great to get lost in this little gem of a city and even better if you pretend like you’re in the “dark ages”. I was also able to rent a bike and just ride all around the county. Riding through suburbs of some small towns feeling like I was a 12 year old kid again or through the woods past the old castles or through the dairy farms watching the horses and cattle. In Bruges, it doesn’t matter that the streets are flooded ... read more

Brugge is often described by many as the city of beer and chocolate, but there is more, much more to this unique place, there's waffles and frites as well. Oh, and did I mention, some of the most amazing and ornate historical buildings that you will ever see. It is no wonder that Brugge probably has one of the highest densities of tourists per square metre than anywhere else in the world. Having said that, I haven't been to Rome yet, but that report is still to come! The easy 35 klm ride in from Gent turned out to be closer to 40 and fairly tough as we had strong head and cross winds for the entire trip. Fred, our guide, does love a detour and, had we always travelled in a straight line, we would ... read more

Geo: 51.2094, 3.22523I JUST DID THE BEST TING EVER IN MY LIFE...i went hot air ballooning - and then my camera broke so i have very limited pics!Bruges was so so very beautiful...it humbles you to think such gorgeous places exist -- and then annoys you that you have to spend your days working in concrete bohemouthsthe difference between the belgians who speak dutch and those who speak french is pretty instantly recognisable...the french speaking ones are wankers...i got bollocked on the train in brussels by a short frenchie chick because, obviously, it was so very my own fault that the train was busy...i just pretended that she could read minds and sent some awful images into her brain which she should have nightmares over for quite a whilebut the dutchies are so so very nice! ... read more

Yesterday we had another day at sea, so me, mummy and daddy just chilled out and played (I think Mummy went swimming too which is mean because I'm not allowed to). Lots of bouncy, singing and more yummy food. That's about it for the day. Today we went into Bruges, Belguim. We all really liked this place (except the amount of tourists - but they aren't easily avoided when you are on a cruise!). I got to bounce around in my buggy A LOT on the copbbled paths, went on a tram ride for the first time and went on a really cool boat ride on canals around the city. We done lots of walking in the city, Mummy and Daddy said we weren't lost but I don't believe them! There were no tourists in some ... read more

Hi Everyone! Sorry the blog posts have been super delayed! It's tough because we get back from work around 7, so once you eat and clean up it's like 8:30 - 9, so there's not much time! But I have to update everyone about my incredible trip to Belgium this past weekend!! So Kaitlyn, Gorana, Cresence and I left at 5:30 am (ugh.) and took the train from Arras to Lille, then Lille to Brussels, and then Brussels to Bruges, and we were there before 9:30! Not bad for stopovers and such. Then we beelined in for food so we didn't get too grumpy. I discovered that Europeans seemed to have an obsession with uncooked ground beef. My hamburger was done only medium when I went to Paris and I ordered a "Boeuf Basilic" sandwhich in ... read more
