Saturday 4 April We’re having breakfast on the porch and are enjoying the sun again. Feels really nice. Yesterday we cleaned the house and washed all sheets and towels for our new guests who will arrive tomorrow. It will be great to see you, m and p and MiL! And to Little K I will add that Sixten is back again. And he seems to be in a good spirit as well. K and Sixten formed a little yoga class here on the terrace yesterday and went through all the exercises together. And I’ve got a new chapter written on my book. It goes really well, maybe because the note book is so small I can’t see what I’m writing… Yesterday’s walk went to Les Serres, the nearest little village, or may be you should call ... read more

Thursday 2 April Time to say good bye to M, P and Little K. It was good to have you here! Rain all the way to the airport. Hope the sun is all over Strängnäs by now! We had the idea of doing some tourism after we’d left the airport “Nice Cote d'Azur”. Tried to reach Cagnes de Mer and Antibes, but the rain was pouring down so heavy we didn’t even see the Sea. And then we took a couple of wrong turns, so we ended up in Vence instead. A medieval town that is on all of the top-ten-lists of Provence. Well, what do you say when you stand in a unique historic place like this in heavy rain, freezing in wet soaked shoes? Nah, this was nothing! Let’s go home and have a ... read more

Wednesday 1 April The sun is doing it best to get through the clouds even this morning. So breakfast outside it is - with a sweater on. Yesterday we went to the supermarket Carrefour and M and P did the shopping. Thanks! Super big shrimps with Champagne, the real deal, before dinner that night! K and I tried once more to reach the goal of my dreams, Plan du Var, but weren’t successful this time either. The path ended at an abandoned house, and we couldn’t get all the way down to the river. But we were able to snatch a couple of lemons and oranges. Finally! For those of you who are planning to visit us and are curious about the place, K (the little K) has shot a movie describing the facilities. Check out ... read more

Tuesday 31 mars The sun is back! But probably just for a while. The low pressure is still circling around the place. Yesterday we got a big surprise after breakfast! M,P and K told us to come out on the porch, and then there were singing and presents and champagne, the real deal, from our local store. Thanks! And a present from O,S,G,K och S as well. Yes, a small Easter egg with a big gift in it! One night at fashionable Hotel Rogge in Strängnäs, with the whole works at the town’s most well renowned spa, Må Bra, including a Jacuzzi on the top of Strängnäs! Thanks guys, you’re terrific! After the superb breakfast, including Natalie’s best choice of Champagne, we took a walk in the neighborhood. Cloudy but no rain. And obviously a lot ... read more

Sunday 29 mars What a day! For all of us, but especially for S, H and E. We got up at 7 a clock. Summertime! Thanks to M, who mentioned it on the phone the evening before. We didn’t have a clue. Without that remark from M, in a by sentence, the kids would have missed their flight! Thanks again, M! Well, S, H and E got to the airport in time. We sad goodbye, with a tear in our eyes, and then we waited in the arrival area for M, P and K. Their flight was on time as well. Really nice to see them! We went home to the tower in a drizzle, now and then interrupted by showers of heavy rain. The sky is overcast and dark grey and the clouds are hanging ... read more

Saturday 28 mars For the first time since we got here, the sky is overcast and it’s drizzling. What, are we in England suddenly?! It took quite a while to get used to the idea of bad weather, but after that K, H, S and I decided to take a walk. It turned out to be more than a walk. We, at least three of us, climbed our local mountain! Great views in all direction, and some aching legs tomorrow I guess. But we all enjoyed it big time! Yesterday was sunny and really warm. All of us went to Nice for some shopping and exploring of the city. We had lunch on a tourist place along the Promenade de Anglais. And then we took off in different directions. S and E headed for the exclusive ... read more

Tuesday 24 mars Lots of clouds in the sky this morning. Had breakfast indoor. But now, by lunchtime, the sun is all over the place again. As a matter of fact, I’m sitting in my swimming trunks on the terrace and writing this. But a cloud is coming up, I notice now, so I don’t know for how long. The thing is, when the sun disappears, it’s dead cold. Like 13 degrees or something. Yesterday we put our walking-shoes on and started to walk a path towards a little village called La Madeleine, which is nearby the bridge over the river Var, which is the way you take when you go here by car. As many of you know, I’m the kind of guy who likes to be in some control, which means for instance having ... read more

(Published 24 hours late due to problems with the server at Travelblog) Sunday 22 mars Yes, that’s right. SUN-day. Not a cloud in sight. Perfect weather for trying the washing machine for the first time, and get some fresh sheets and clothes. Just to get the machine going is a lesson in French. And we have to keep one ear for the machine the day through, because all of a sudden it will stop, and you'll have to push a button or two, don’t know why) The carnival we told you about yesterday, was actually next week… But it was an exposition by an artist opening this Saturday, which we never found, and a concert in the church next to us, which we indeed found. We heard music from the church in the early afternoon, and ... read more

Samedi 21 mars (haven’t learn the months yet) We’ve learned the word “Samedi” because it’s all over the place on posters and signs. Obviously it is some kind of festival or something going on in the village today. We’ll check it out later this afternoon. As you could anticipate (but I never really believed it myself) practically no one in the village speaks a single word of English. But they are jolly good and polite and you always get the more or less mandatory “Bonjour” or “Bonsoir”, even from small kids. With one exception, we passed the school the other day, and one kid directly recognized us as the foreigners of the village and wanted to show off what he’d learned in school and addressed us with “Hallo sir! Good afternoon!” I greeted him back and ... read more

Tuesday 17 mars Yesterday started good as well. 17 degrees and sun. We had our usual breakfast on the terrace. And then we just sat there and relaxed. This is holiday! We made lunch to go, baguettes with avocado, and walked the path to another medieval village Gilette. (Yes, “the best a man can get”) We were told there was a restaurant in the village, but it was closed. Don’t know if it was for the season or for good. But we found a café and had a cappuccino and a coke. We’ve fantasized about walking to this village and have dinner, and walk back again. Well, that isn’t a good idea. It was hard enough to find the way in broad daylight. And it’s getting really dark in the night. It doesn’t really matter any ... read more
