Tag 212 – Auf Austernsafari Am nächsten Morgen ging ich rüber zur Rezeption, wo die Teilnehmer der „Østerssafari“ in Empfang genommen wurden. Die, die schon vor neun da waren, konnten sich schon mal passende Wathosen ausleihen. Danach sammelten sich alle 55 Teilnehmer zu Emils Einführungsvortrag mit Power Point Präsentation. Daraufhin half ich mit, die restlichen Teilnehmer mit Wathosen in der richtigen Größe zu versorgen. Anschließend fuhr ich dann mit Emil mit voraus, und die ganze Kolonne Autos folgte uns bis zum Deich. Dort zogen alle ihre Wathosen an und wir begannen unsere Watwanderung zu den Austernbänken. Wir hatten beide ein GPS dabei, ich hatte mir nämlich Evas Ausrüstungsrucksack ausgeliehen, und so lernte ich, wie man den entsprechenden Waypoint auswählte und sich dorthin navigieren ließ. I used to reply to each one but it is a bit complicated, especially on the road with an underpowered netbook,-( Our thoughts and prayers go out to those in Italy who were affected by the recent earthquake. DANEMARK : Ribe Et nous y voila de retour... après 47 ans et quelques jours.... Cet hôtel avait été une réelle surprise pour nous... un plancher tout sauf droit... de qui avoir le vertige ou valser directement dans son lit... A table encore plus de surprises : on ne vous demandait rien... mais on vous apportait tous des plats surprise.... chaque table recevait un autre menu... La nappe était parsemée de pétales de fleurs... au menu je me souviens qu'il y avait de la dinde rôtie mais surtout le dessert : des framboises dans une assiette à soupe remplie de crème fraîche liquide... Nous avons gardé l'habitude de manger nos framboises de cette façon... Cette fois ci rien a voir du tout... le restaurant est encore considéré comme le meilleur de la ville de même que ... read more

Visited Ribe today, the oldest city in Denmark and established in 700 because of its good location as a trading post on the river. Lovely place especially on a blue-sky sunny day. There are streets of beautifully restored buildings in the medieval quarter of the city. They should be too pretty and twee but surprisingly they are not and the whole place was a delight to the eye and also to the camera. Loved the cathedral which has some very modern paintings and stained glass. The river is also pretty and forms an island round part of the town. Unexpectedly you come across a full working water wheel in the main shopping street and then a gushing weir. All extremely tasteful and well thought out. Not a piece of litter to be seen. We have a new motorhome for this trip, one with a garage so the scooter can go inside instead of hanging precariously off the back. This is an Italian McLouis TANDY 366G and it is very smart. Let’s hope it is also reliable. Gave the garden a wave as we left as it is about to burst into glorious summer flower which we will completely miss. Also to all the baby birds which have been feasting in our garden these last few weeks, including the robin which comes to the kitchen door for suet pellets, but have left a pot of bird food and asked next door to put some out for them every now and then.
