So it finally arrived, and I am still alive and well. Yesterday was my last full day on my adventure and there are definitely some bitter sweet feelings. But I still have a full day ahead of exploring, so I don't dwell on the future too long. Thursday I decide to take a short train trip out of the capital, and visit a place on the northern tip of Denmark, called Helsingør, to escape the city atmosphere and see some more of rural Denmark. This trip has solidified the fact that I really really don't want to live in a big city, and that the outskirts of town are definitely where I belong. So I took the train, only about 45 minutes north (isn't it great how everything is so close over here?!) and got off ... read more

The beginning to the day yesterday was beyond perfect. I was awake earlier than normal and decided it would be nice to make the short walk to the bakery on the corner about 200m from the hostel. I took my number, waited in line (it's like 8:30am, but they opened at 5am and I'm sure have been busy since then!) and ordered my cappuccino and whatever a traditional Danish breakfast pastry would be. The lady behind the counter laughed and said she'd think about it while she made the coffee. I ended up with a round pastry with icing around the edges and a cream filled centre... Honestly one of best things I've ever had for breakfast, seriously. I walked back to the hostel with my purchase and ate and drank on a bench by the ... read more

Shit, so I already wrote like 3/4 of this and then accidentally pressed the back button and lost it all, so don't expect the same enthusiasm as usual. Uuuughgfndnsnbsjsj. Jk, I'll do my best. Yay, I get to select a new country today for this entry! Yesterday marked both my last half-day in Sweden, and my first half-day in Denmark. I woke up, packed the rest of my stuff in my backpacks (and trust me, it was a struggle to get all that leftover food in there... I'm lucky I didn't pull out a loaf of bread on the train instead of my Eurail pass ?) and had my breakfast before going to check out. I dumped my sheets and towel and handed over my key card, to which I got in return, a letter... From ... read more

The day after Zeebrugge was a sea day. And our first black tie event where tuxedo and evening gown are the required attire. I decided to wear a tux as my evening gown was still at the dry cleaners!! Dining usually comes in two sittings: early - from 6:30pm and late - from 8:45pm. We however, have decided to go with Freedom dining. This is a third option and means 'any time' dining. Just turn up any time and you will be shown to a table. In reality, anytime dining is only available if you are willing to share a table. You can, however, request a table for two. In the event of no tables being available, a pager is provided. This will beep, buzz and flash when your table is ready and the wait can ... read more

Hallo, I am in Copenhagen! But first I'l give a run down of where I've been on the way here. I left you off just before driving to Berlin. I stayed there for a few days, doing all the touristy things and enjoying my time with my friend Anna. She was a fantastic tour guide and showed me around the Burroughs of the city while she could, and then I figured out the rest on my own. There's lots to see in Berlin; I saw the old section of the wall separating East/West Berlin which is now set up as a graffiti art gallery (a small section is in the top banner). Berlin is a really weird mix of old and new as well. Some really cool buildings in the modern parts of town and tons ... read more

Planes, Trains, and Bicycles Copenhagen, Denmark Our story begins with our trip to Copenhagen, a city that is a little out of the way of the usual tourist route. To get there by plane from Paris was going to cost quite a bit, so we decided to take an overnight train, a new and exciting experience for us. The train was not the typical overnight train, because as usual we went the cheap route, and booked three different trains over the course of a 10 hour journey across four countries. We left our hotel in Paris slightly excited about this upcoming journey, but unfortunately, our excitement turned to absolute despair. Jason, very typically of an American, did not understand that Europeans use the 24 hour clock to tell time, rather than AM & PM. We arrived ... read more

Atlasssssssst.... My flight from Bangkok to Copenhagen was long, uneventful and tiresome. A ten hour direct to Moscow and a five hour layover that turned into seven then a two hour flight from there to Copenhagen arriving around midnight. I was excited to see a friend of mine who I haven't seen since Colombia in 2012 who lives just over the bridge in Malmo, Sweden was supposed to meet me at the airport holding a cold carlsberg beer, but never showed. I was at a loss to say the least as I was going to stay with him for a few days until my flight to Moscow. So I arrived late Monday night with barely any money, as I was going to stay with him so I figured id spend more than anticipated in Cambodia and ... read more

I left on Monday night with WizzAir flight W6 3209. I got to MMX on time and took the Flygbussarna to Sodervarn, from where I walked to my hostel. On Wednesday morning, I walked to city centre and saw the Malmohus and St. Peter's church. These weren't so impressive, but the city itself is very nice, cozy and green and peaceful... I then took the train to Copenhagen and walked around a lot... And finally I went to Lyngby, where I was too tired for much sightseeing (and there's not that much to see anyway). On Thursday morning I headed towards DTU for my interview, then I headed back to Malmo (via Copenhagen, of course) and then home on flight W6 3210 (also on time, but the buses that were supposed to take us to the ... read more

Geo: 55.7106, 12.5659I can't recall when I have walked so much in a short period of time. Likely it was back when I was in my teens. We decided to go to the National Museum which is basically a day excursion. The museum is terrific with all sorts of displays. It is housed in what was once a castle which has seen several renovations. My pictures are limited because there is so much to see and many items are behind glass. We spent about 5 hours in the museum. The ground floor traces the history of Denmark from about 13,000 BC to 1050 AD. The first floor covers the Danish Middle Ages and the Renaissance as well as the Prince's Palace, the Royal Collection of Coins and Medals and the Peoples of the Earth display. The ... read more

Geo: 55.7107, 12.5661The wind is still blowing in Malmo. Apparently the amount of wind is unusual. The receptionist at the hotel said usually the weather is just grey. Fairly easy to get out of Malmo. The trip to Copenhagen is quite short (approx. 1 hour). There is a bridge and 4K tunnel between Malmo and Copenhagen. We got the key from our host at his place of work and then went to the apartment which we found with some difficulty. It is on the top (fifth floor) - no elevator. Pleasant view from both directions of the apartment. Once settled in we walked into Copenhagen (45 - 60 minutes). Copenhagen seems much busier and you are more likely to be run over by a bicycle than a car. Today we just oriented ourselves to the city ... read more
