Atlasssssssst....
My flight from Bangkok to Copenhagen was long, uneventful and tiresome. A ten hour direct to Moscow and a five hour layover that turned into seven then a two hour flight from there to Copenhagen arriving around midnight. I was excited to see a friend of mine who I haven't seen since Colombia in 2012 who lives just over the bridge in Malmo, Sweden was supposed to meet me at the airport holding a cold carlsberg beer, but never showed. I was at a loss to say the least as I was going to stay with him for a few days until my flight to Moscow. So I arrived late Monday night with barely any money, as I was going to stay with him so I figured id spend more than anticipated in Cambodia and Thailand. I've gotten no answer to any of my messages that I left and was stuck at the airport until Thursday when I had to message a friend back in Vietnam to see if she could put some money onto my techcom Visa card I had gotten there while working so I could use as I travel. Luckily she was so nice
and put two hundred on it for me and I will pay her back next week when I get to Russia.
It wasn't all bad though, staying at the airport. I met a couple of very nice people one of which was absolutely a bombshell from Estonia, who was so outrageously gorgeous and yet so friendly and nice. She was on a layover for only 5 hours to go back to Norway where she was working at a hotel and we chatted for a couple of hours which made me forget where I was and how angry I was at being stranded there. Then it was time for her to go check in for her flight we said goodbye and good luck to each other then about 5 minutes after that a Greek girl came and introduced herself to me and we chatted for a while and she was waiting for a friend here to arrive as she was going to be working in Denmark at a cafe for 8 months and would be renting a room from a friend so I had a companion for 2 days at least, someone who was in kind of the
same boat as me, kind of but not really. She was so nice and kind sharing her expensive airport coffee with me, treats etc etc. this is the first time I'd been stranded intentionally so it was frustrating, but as always I don't let it show and always stay positive.
I received the money on my card around 6am thursday morning and treated myself to a $6 cup of coffee and a $3.50 small cinnamon roll before going to buy my train ticket and bus ticket out of the airport. I had searched hostel world with what little battery I had left on my ipad and saw the prices of hostels here....WHOA! How the fuck do people backpack in Europe? The lowest price for a bunk was $29 per night!!! Insane! Certainly not Asia that's for sure, I had been privileged in that way traveling in Asia. So anyway I wrote the address down and went to ask the information desk how do I get there, they gave me a look like "you're still fucking here?" Lol. They gave me the price and directions which were pretty simple and I went to get my ticket from the office, it's nice that the train and bus are all on one ticket. I paid the 36 DKK (about $6) and went to get the train, the Greek girl and her friend were still asleep upstairs by the departure gates where we slept at night and the escalators up were now blocked off by attendants checking tickets so I couldn't go up to say goodbye. The directions were spot on and easy to do which was a relief and I made it to the hostel (Dan Hostel Copenhagen).
I checked in and put my bags in the room and set off to walk around in the cloudy and windy streets. I walked by some bakeries and butcher shops selling all types of meats and breads and pastries and I just remember smiling subconsciously without even thinking of smiling. So happy to see Europe and the people and the foods and the cheeses and the breads and the.....you get the point. I will say that Denmark is extremely expensive I mean way more than I even thought it would be, but it is said that Danes are the happiest people in the world which I don't know, but I wouldn't disagree. I went to a grocery store and saw the cheese isle and I almost literally fainted lol (see picture) I bought a little package of my favorite cheese, feta and some sandwich meat to make a nice hoagie from back home Which I have craved for so long! I also found tortilla chips before checking out 😊. There was a bakery that I peeked into on my way back to the hostel and I stopped in to get a couple of fresh sandwich rolls and I was on my way back to make me a sandwich! People in the hostel are mostly Europeans of course and travel in packs so they aren't very social outside of their little clicks especially French people which I already know from my travels in Latin America. I will be here until Saturday and the. Head back to my first home, the airport to wait for a late night flight to Moscow which I'm also excited for, but also have heard it's pretty expensive there as well so we will see. I haven't taken many pictures here in Copenhagen due to being stranded at the airport for a few days and feeling Ill at the hostel, but I will come back at some point to explore more for sure.
Until Moscow......buen Viaje everyone!

So you paid for a round trip ticket from Moscow to Copenhagen to visit a friend...
and the friend didn't even show up! What a bummer! Have you ever Couchsurf'ed...that's an inexpensive option?
