I've learned throughout my life that first impressions matter. So what happens when they just don't go along with your expectations? During the week at Babson College, a Professor, who will be known as... P.C throughout the blog mentioned to us that we should not even think about taking pictures at the airport in Russia. Apparently, if you were to do this you would be thought of as a spy, getting pictures of the airport layout for a later mission... that is if we want to sound like we're in a James Bond movie. But I'm sure that you know all about those dehydrated naps/ sleep that we all occasional get. I had one of those, right before I woke up as the plane landed in Saint Petersburg. I know, it was a struggle fest; what ... read more

Sitting against the wall near the airport gate as I charge both my computer and iPhone, I realize that I never took the time to really sit and think. Am I ready? Having the 2 hours of just waiting in anticipation for someone to state that our flight to Munich, Germany is starting to board, it still hasn't hit me that I'm leaving. I'm leaving the US for a second time, to learn more about three developing countries and more. I have at least 10lbs in protein and granola bars, so does that mean that I'm ready? I just finished my second semester abroad application to go to Ghana for 4 months, so does that mean that I'm ready? I filled out my absentee ballot online form so that I can vote for the 2012 elections ... read more

I know that I still have 21 more days until I find myself on a plane heading back for America, but after yesterday, I have to say "Thank you," to all of the people who helped me get to where I am. While yesterday was a roller-coaster of emotions... where there were tears shed of sadness and joy, I definitely realized that I had the best experience in a life time. I am done with rehearsals after school in the auditorium and 5th floor dance studio... I am done with quick Starbucks runs before long 13hour practices at the Poly theater.... I am done with staying in a dressing room covered in mirrors... I am done wearing my costume.... I am done getting my makeup and hair done...I am done being on stage in front of ... read more

So to just sum up the month that I took off from writing on my travel blog, I'll just have a bunch of pictures for all of the activities that have happened since the in-famous sleepover. First off to start everything off, you should know that we (as always just the group of girls) have begun to celebrate random national holidays that we have found online, including caramel popcorn day, russian cosmo day, blah blah blah day, tell a story day, and blame someone else day (etc). Our chinese teacher also began taking us out on Thursdays for mini field trips, the first trip was suppose to be to the underground city in Beijing. This trip unfortunately did not happen because when we got there all there was, was a sign on the door saying that ... read more

So although I am already 2 weeks behind on blog entries-- I just had to skip over them for now and post this one. Today I got a hair cut- watch the video... for a summary and check out the pictures... although Maia has the pictures from the process of my haircutting experience- so I'll add those at a later date. The girls had a sleepover this weekend. On Saturday after we dropped our stuff off at Emily's place we went back into a sandstorm and went on a journey trying to find the silk market. It was enjoyable, the market was stressful, Baskin Robin's ice cream was amazing, and the pasta that we made for dinner was so good (Celina has those pictures.) I can't really write out anything else, just wait for updates :) ... read more

We had our official "Welcome to Jingshan High School" as we had to stand up on stage and introduce ourselves with just our names. Then came what the entire school was waiting for, the gift to the principal/ school, which Ms. McQuillan presented to the principal. Out came a box in gift wrapping. Oh what could it be we all wondered? Even Ms. Sargent didn't have the slightest clue, it was all up to Ms. McQuillan to impress everyone. A small box has a small engraved plate saying "To celebrate the first snow day of Jingshan" (something along those lines) And then the principal just had to open the box- where an entire bagful of glitter sat at the bottom, just waiting to cause a disaster. Oh dear, who would have known that these things could ... read more

Finally- school would be starting.. while the ninth graders had tests all day today (and tomorrow) we only had a half day of school... yet I waited for Rose until I went home because I didn't know how to get home. For now I had to rely on my host sibling more than I would like. Instead of shadowing Rose I shadowed..no one... We as a group.. just played basketball with other kids we met out on the courts. At this moment I was horrible at playing basketball but I still had fun. We made our first two friends today; JD and Troy, because they were the only one's who would play on our team. yeah.. doing these journal entries weeks behind, I don't really remember much.. it was a slow week and start- but as ... read more
