I have had no internet for the last few days so I will upload my blogs from the those days - enjoy.... Its the weekend ... and the work here in Mwanza is done and I am off to the serengeti tommorow for the day, YAY! Just wish Joe could be here to share it with me. Good fun today, we discussed accident investigation with role play and I was the casualty, my acting was so good it even warranted mobile phone cameras being brought out to video me... I am a star! :) I has some Talapia fish for lunch - again! it is so good - it is from the region but they have never heard of Cod or Haddock and thankfully Jelled eels (yuk). if they upload ok - here is a picture ... read more

Thats what keep hearing today! I feel like a child again! I keep telling the staff that My internet doesnt work and my only access is my Blackberry or the hotel computer and all they say is go to your room and we will send Aroon - poor Aroon comes to my room all the time - gets the internet working and as soon as he leaves it stops working again! its crazy! New bunch of Trainees today, really nice guys - we are holding the training at the hotel and at the start a hotel electrician was asked to set the projecter up - well we nearly had a fit when he chose to insert the wires with a pencil into the socket rather than wire them into a plug! After a few words he ... read more

A Replica anyway, I am sitting on the deck of the African Queen on Lake Victoria in the Hotel that I am staying in, My Hotel Room happens to be on this boat on the lake - how cool is this! Mike and Suitbert are in the back of the hotel somewhere :) It was rainy when we arrived but it has now heated up - not as hot as Dar but warm enough - like a summers day in the UK - lush... I like Mwanza so far, its greener, we drove past lots of tin and concrete homes that would appear to be but are unlikely to be sponsored by Pepsi and Samsung all of these people seem to grow their own vegetables on their front gardens and everyone seems very happy. It is ... read more

Powa That means - How are you? (Mambo) Good/Fine (Powa) the Africans have had great fun today teahing me Swahili and find it hilarious when I get it wrong :) but can I get them to say Funky Cheese to the camera.... no way :) I started off deep in thought this morning, I had been reading that when we flush the loo we use more water (7litres) than many Africans in poverty uses in a day so I was watching the sprinkler covering the grass at the hotel thinking that this was wrong on so many levels - I see men out in the street carrying buckets of water to their home and here is a hotel throwing it all over the floor. Todays training sessions was fun, Mike pretended to be a victim that ... read more

yes you read that right, I was informed today that if a man arrives home and finds a Masai Warriors spear on his front garden then the warrior is WITH his wife and that he is to leave and never come back ... well there you go folks... imagine that in Berkshire! Trained some of the guys today, Mike has asked me to do a section on workplace inspections so this will be short as I will be working into the evening on it, but I will leave you with a picture of a lovely bag that I received on my doorstep this morning with a newpaper in it, a recycled bag - for all those who believe me to be a green nutter - I truely love this bag and wonder if I shall get ... read more

Wow - Terminal 5 is amazing, I was very impressed with it and for those of you watching Little Britains Come Fly with me I swear I saw Taaj on the tarmac! The Flight was reasonable, seemed to go fast, I watched Toy Story 3 and had a beef dinner before getting my head down which is when 2 Cheryl Cole wannabe's decided to have a long conversation about shopping and shoes - the BBC has alot to answer for after sending Cheryl Cole to Kilamanjaro... any how moving on... I have arrived safely .... We were collected by a nice chap that works for the company, his name is Suitbert (Sweet Bert), he made sure we were safely sent off with the driver and we will be meeting with him early tommorow morning. when we ... read more

I have recieved some Doc Martens Safety Boots (blimey they are heavy) these are for walking about on sites and keeping my toes safe - of course! My HR Manager is organising my Medical Cover and my passport arrived back safely with visas stamped inside for Uganda and Tanzania. Ahhh the Visa's It was lovely to come in relaxed from the christmas break to hear the words "there is a problem with your passport!" "NOOOOOOO" I thought "its one of my most favourite possessions, please tell me its not lost!!!" but all was well, the only problem that was encountered was that due to the UK's wonderfully beautiful snowy icy weather they could not get my Kenya Visa in time; apparently I just need to smile sweetly and then we can bung them a few ... read more
