Now if you know me well you know that if I say to you "my phone has been stolen!" that you should say - check your bag and I will say "I did, twice!" but then you will say no the other bag and then it will be found - ooops today started off almost as bad as yesterday, I reeled off to Mike that I was feeling bad and why I was feeling bad and he said "god you are not going to top yourself are you?" he was joking of course. we then left the hotel, I proceeded to get in the wrong vehicle at which point Mike was showing concern for my mentality. We got to the office and I realised I had left Annie (the resus dummy) at the hotel so I ... read more

Mike laughed hard when the waitress said to me "you want diet coke?" his assumption because I am (his words) portly and her assumption because I had one by the pool Sunday .... Today at the office we prepped and planned for the weeks training and I videoed our trip in so that we can plan Driving hazard awareness training - unfortunately the video player isnt supported on my work laptop so I will add the video when I return! Not the best of days, my blackberry has been stolen and I made some mistakes on some letters (Kim has come to the rescue on my letters - my hero) I bashed out my frustration in the gym and went for a run on the green and was reminded of my "portliness" with an offer of ... read more

" I am afraid we are oversold, you will have to be upgraded" such hardship especially (i want to point this out) as I give up my weekends without complaint to fly for the company I work for, this was a treat. OK it was only to World traveller plus but for me with short legs who cant touch the floor in economy that was marvellous as World traveller plus has foot rests - bliss. I sat next to a gent who was part of the British Heart Foundation Bike Challenge and has spent months painstakingly fundraising and practicing for his 300 mile bike ride across Tanzania - good luck to him - I cant see me doing that on Brad Pitt the Brompton! Three whole hours we were stranded for at heathrow, the plane was ... read more

My last trip was in April and some of you may be wondering what has been happening since I arrived home. We had a Royal wedding in the UK which for those that love the royal family that was wonderful, and for the rest of us it meant an extra day off! This allowed many people across the UK including myself to take 11 working days off but only use 7 days holiday and as it was my birthday Thank you Wills and Kate for that generous birthday gift. We didn’t watch the wedding; instead we went for a walk around the local nature reserve and chilled out in the garden with Joes parents and had dinner with my family. It was a glorious 2 weeks, infact probably the only summer that the UK is going ... read more

Goodmorning everyone, 1 hour and 20 minutes ago my plane landed and I am finally home in Twyford getting ready to go to bed and catch up on some sleep. As I arrived at the airport in Accra I was told to go to customs so that they could check my bag, just as they had in Nigeria, my thoughts were "oh god dont open it, I had to sit on it to close it in the first place" although she opened everyone elses bags she took one look at me and said - you are good, you may go. I thanked her, although fully aware of what a good girl I am :) I headed through to the departure gate, they had placed all of the BA passengers in one line and forgotten about us ... read more

10 hours - yes 10 hours it took to get from Newmont to Accra, we did stop a couple of times for bush stops and we did collect food once but the roads are so bad here that the journet is so difficult, they are building roads but the road will be finished as and when - its GMT - Ghana Maybe Time. It was today I realised that I love Ghana, we came out of Newmont which I have thoroughly enjoyed but it is like being in a dusty America - there are even lots of white Americans there. If it wasnt for the heat and the heaviest rain ever you could forget you were in Africa. As we popped out of Newmont we saw people selling their fruit and Snails (as big as your ... read more

Had a great last day of training today before heading back to Accra, we completed an accident investigation, Myself, Gideon and Edmond built a fake Accident where all of the Safety Reps had to investigate it, Gideon was the evil manager which was fum for him as it was completely out of character for him, the guys all enjoyed themselves. At the end of the training the team were all keen to have their photo taken with me - training in Africa is a bit like going to a wedding, holding that permanent smile at cameras for absolutely ages :) Edmond took Gideon and I into the main site to see the pits - they are HUGE I couldnt see any gold but apparently thats normal, the gold needs to be processed before it comes out ... read more

Hi all yesterday Gideon took me to the cultural centre and to the Kings Palace museum both of which were very interesting, not only did we see how the local traditional clothes were made but we also learnt about the traditional history of the Ashanti kings. at all times the king is forbidden to put his feet on the floor including bathtimes so he sits on his little stool and puts his feet on two ivory tusks when he dries himself! In our colonial days when we were greedy peeps we arrived in Ghana and saw the kings gold stool and decided we wanted it and when he wouldnt hand it over we threw our toys out of the pram and caused a war! due to this the king had a fake one made incase it ... read more
