Geo: 51.1762, -115.57 Well, we stayed 2 nights in Calgary. We visited Fort Calgary and learned about the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and then went to the Heritage Center. We left the next day and drove to Banff. The weather has improved very much. What a beautiful place! Snow capped peaks are everywhere. We have seen mountain goats, big horn sheep, deer, elk and 3 grizzly bears. We went to Lake Louise and hiked half way around the lake. We drove to several lakes that were fantastic. We have been up 2 gondolas to view the area from on top of the mountain. Tomorrow we are going on a boat tour of Lake Minnewanka. On Saturday we are leaving Banff and are driving to Jasper National Park. ... read more

Geo: 51.0451, -114.063Thursday night we arrived in Hungry Horse, Montana after a 500 mile drive. We stayed at Tamarack Lodge and Cabins. We had cabin #4. We got up on Friday morning to see the hills across the road from us covered in fresh snow. It was 47 degrees at the cabin. We drove the 8 miles to the entrance of Glacier National Park. The farther in we drove, the colder it got and the lower the snowline got until we were in it! The high temp. in Glacier that day was 31 degrees! Even though conditions were not the best, we went on a 4.5 mile hike to Avalanche Lake. It was georgeous! We toured around the rest of the day and went back to our cabin. On Saturday morning we checked out and drove around ... read more

Geo: 48.3858, -114.06Lets start from the beginning. We left Sacramento on Monday morning at 8:00 AM. We drove all the way to Boise , Idaho. Thats 550 miles. Alot of freeway at first then some nice two lane roads in Idaho. We arrived around 6:00PM. That was a long day. We had dinner and a couple of beers and went to bed. The next morning we left for Le Grande, Oregon, which is where Stacy's family is from. Her grandparents are buried there. We had lunch in town and looked around for a while. She wanted to visit the gravesites and we went to City Hall. They sent us to the records clerk, who printed out a copy of Stacy's parents marriage certificate. She sent us to a cemetary in town and a very nice lady ... read more

Geo: 38.579, -121.491Well, this is the last entry for this trip. We made it home in one piece. All of our luggage showed up and customs was a breeze. So let me back up to Sunday the 17th. As you remember, we arrived in Glasgow on Saturday. So, on Sunday we got tickets to the hop-on hop-off bus tour of Glasgow and took a circuit of Glasgow. We got off at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and looked around there for about a couple of hours. We then crossed the street and visited the Glasgow Transport Museum. That also took a couple of hours. We then went out for a nice Italian dinner and then back to our hotel. On Monday, we hopped back on the bus and stopped at the Glasgow Cathedral and looked ... read more

Geo: 55.8656, -4.25722Well, we finally left Inverness this morning. We arrived in Glasgow about 3:00PM. We checked in to our hotel and returned the rental car. We put almost 4000 miles on it in 54 days! So let me back up to where I left off in the last blog. On Sunday, August 10th we went back to Elgin to visit Spynie Palace, which is a castle ruin. It was really cool! We also drove back to Brodie Castle because they were having a vintage car show that day. It had cars from 1902 to the present. Many were cars that I never even heard of. You can view the pics and see Stacy standing next to 2 cars that she owned in a previous life. Also a pic of our next family car! Monday was ... read more

Geo: 57.4767, -4.23145On Saturday, we drove up north and visited Dunrobin Castle. It looks like a fairytale castle. We also stopped into a couple of villages. Sunday was a day of rest. On Monday we went west and visited Brodie Castle, Elgin Cathedral, the Moray Motor Museum and Duffus Castle. Brodie Castle is furnished and was great. Duffus was a ruins and not much of it was left. The Motor museum was small, but it had a very good collection of cars and the curator gave us a personal tour. Elgin Cathedral was very nice, too. On Tuesday, we did a loop around Loch Ness. We also stopped at Foyer Falls and did some hiking and pics. Wednesday we were at the Black Isle and toured Cromarty village in the rain. Thursday was a day off. ... read more

Geo: 57.4767, -4.23145We are sitting in a nice pub in Inverness, having a pint and using their wifi. Lets see, where the heck are we! Oh yes, we are in Inverness. We left the Isle of Skye on Saturday morning and drove to Inverness. It took us a while to find our house because we loaned TomTom to Mike and Anne for their Edinburgh trip. That was a mistake. After driving around, we realized that we came in from a different direction than we thought. We didn't do anything that afternon, but wait for Mike and Anne to arrive. On Sunday, Stacy and I went into the city centre and toured around while Mike and Anne did laundry. On Monday, we drove down to Urquhart Castle and toured it. We then went back to town and ... read more

Geo: 57.4131, -6.19377We left Tullycross on Tuesday morning about 10:00AM. We drove up Loch Lomand and on towards Skye. It was a cloudy and cool day. We stopped at the Eilean Donan Castle before crossing the bridge to Skye. It is one of the most photographed castles in all of Scotland. It was quite cloudy and the clouds were quite low, so we could'nt see the surrounding mountains. We drove over the bridge and up to our Ashaig B&B at Edinbane. It was very nice. The hosts are kind of batty, though. On Wednesday, we toured the Dunvegan Castle and gardens. We also drove around the north west side of Skye. The weather was cloudy in the morning, but by the afternoon it had cleared up and was quite nice. On Thursday, we toured the northeast side ... read more

Geo: 55.8656, -4.25722Monday was a slow day. We just went shopping for an adapter plug so we could play our MP3 players in the car. We found an ASDA store in Dumbarton. It is the Walmart of Europe. Huge store. We cleaned up the apartment a little for the McIntyres arrival. Tuesday we waited patiently for the McIntyre Clan to call. Around 11:00AM Mike called to say that they were waiting for a car at the airport. We finally met them at a pub about 6 miles from the flat. They were exhausted! The plane trip, customs, waiting for the car all took its toll and when they got to the apartment they crashed for 3 hours. The next day we took them on a tour of the area and showed them Aberfoyle, Loch Katrine and ... read more
