South America » Chile December 12th 2009

Hi to all - I am back after a long period of not writing. Last point we left in our reporting was leaving Mendoza in North Argentina on a bus to Santiago de Chile. After giving up on the idea of buying a camper in Argentina, we have decided, in Santiago de Chile, to rent a car. It was a bit hard, as it was a weekend and a long one due to a local holiday, but nothing will stop us, so with the help of the hotel staff we managed to find two renting companies that came over to our hotel to offer us several cars, and we finally chose one - a family Kia. The next thing we did, after receiving the car, on Monday morning we went to an outlet store, bought a ... read more

Hello it is Nitzan and I am going to write about Mendoza. We took a morning bus to Mendoza from san-juan it was only 2 hours. When we arrived to the terminal we had a hostel that somebody recomended to us,we took a taxi to the hostel, the name of the hostel is "life House". We put our bags in the room and saw there is a swiminng pool so Omer, Shachar, and my dad swem a bit they met some Argetinian people that came over to Mendoza from Rosario. They talked to us a lot, they were very nice, they did BBQ. They explained us that the next day there is going to be a football game between their team from Rosario (Central) and the local group from Mendoza. They even teached Shachar to chear ... read more

South America » Argentina » San Juan » Ischigualasto November 30th 2009

Hi, From Cordoba, we made our way toward two national parks - Ischigualasto and Talampaya. To get there, we took a night bus from Cordoba to San Juan, and upon arrival to San Juan we learned that we will have to spend there half a day as the only bus to San Augustin will leave at 14:00. So, we turned the bus terminal cafeteria to our "home" for a couple of hours - spending the time on schooling, internet surfing (luckily there was Wi-Fi in the terminal) and some playing. Eventually we made it to San Augustin, we managed to find a nice apartment for the night, and even managed to book transportation to both parks for the next day. For dinner, we made our first own BBQ! The next day was dedicated to both parks. ... read more

South America November 26th 2009

Well, it's been almost 3 months that we are on the way, so I think it is a good time to write a general entry about our family adventure without reporting on a specific site. Many of you have asked us before, and many are keep asking us on the way as we go - isn't it hard to travel with 3 kids? how is it? etc.... So this would be the first general topic. Well, it is not hard, or maybe it is hard to travel with kids. Confusing? - well, like everything in life, things are not that simple. I think that having kids, educating them, "growing" them and running a good family life is not an easy task, no matter where you are or what life style you have! In that respect, travelling ... read more

South America » Argentina » Salta November 25th 2009

Hello to everybody, it is Nitzan and I am going to tell you about our first days in Argentina. We did not finish to visit Chile, what we are planing to do is Zig-zag beetween Chile, and Argentina, because if we do all of Chile and only then cross to Argentina, we kind of go back all the way - if you look at a map of South America you will understand why. Ok. We crossed from Chile to Argentina in a morning bus and arrived to a big city called Salta. In the bus there was an Israeli couple and they said they have slept in Salta in a good, and nice hostel, so we took a taxi to there with them and it was good , so we stayed there. We went out for ... read more

Hi, its Lilach this time - The Salar in Bolivia, which Omer told you all about, was our last stop in Bolivia. From there we have crossed the border to Chile. Our first stop in Chile was a small town called Putre, which is the entry point to Lauca national park. Our first steps in Chile were not very positive - first, there was no place to change money in the border point. It went on, with a big surprise we had regarding reaching Putre. When we bought a bus ticket in La Paz to Putre, no one told us, that actually the bus will drop us on the highway junction leading to Putre (Putre was 4km away from the junction...). Not only that we were in the middle of the highway, there was nothing in ... read more

Hi it is Omer In Uyuni we went to a desert called Salar. Actually it´s not a sesert it´s a desert made out of salt and only now starts the adventure! Day 1 - We went to visit a cemetery of trains. The trains that are there, are not in use any longer, because they were working on coal, and now the trains in Bolivia use gasoline. Then we went to the Salar. First of all, we went to mountains of salt. Then we went to a factory of salt. They first dry the salt outside in the sun. Then, they do another level of drying in a kind of oven. When the salt is dry enough they grind the salt a special machine then they put it in a big pile of salt that has ... read more

Hi, It has been really long since I wrote an entry, so my kids decided it is my turn this time to tell the story of our adventures in Bolivia after returning from Rurenabaque (Pamapas and Amish). And if the kids say I should be doing somethin, I better do it... After returning to La Paz from Rurenabaque, Tal decided he has to make some strength and courage test - he went biking on the 'Death Road'. It is a gravel road that stretches over ~60 km with many curves. It is very narrow and on one side there is the wall of the mountain and on the other side a steep downhil fall... It got its name from the fact that many cars and people have ended their life on this road from the many ... read more
