Interesting That comment does make it sound sad. I actually don't mind not having a guy for Valentine's Day. I would love to meet a smooth Indian "Hugh Grant" though. That would be fun.
Without Bees there is no honey I suppose I could do without most bugs but not without honey. No bees, no honey. I'm not down with that. I could do without wasps and yellow jackets and muddaubers and hornets though.
BEES! AAAHHHH! CRAP! I can't believe that you're talking about swarms of bees without absolute hysteria. I would so freak out! Come home soon - and don't bring any bees or bugs home with you either! Poor Julie. Yuck. Stupid insects. God can do anything, right? Why couldn't he just create a universe that had no need for insects? WHY, I ask you?
How grim! Your valentines day blog was so sad!! A tiny little teddy bear and a rose...more than last year though...restaurants filling up with couples...going home to watch Bridget Jones...
Go bowling and meet some smooth Indian 'Hugh Grant' or something. Have a drink or knock back another bag of corn chips!! Anything!!
Cheer up!!
Well, Civilized I'm not so sure I wish India had more cheese and softer TP and especially child labor laws but the US could do with a dose or two of work ethic and and less PC bullcrap. But hey, we all have our differences. I have to say, I think India is one of the safest countries to visit (You heard me Mexico with all your drug violence)
Civilization? Stories like that make me appreciate living in a "more civilized" place. I guess it's a bit subjective, but come on - we don't even let babies ride inside a car without a special contraption to keep them safe. I'm not saying that Indians are bad people or anything - they probably don't have a whole lot of options. I'm just saying that there are some things to appreciate about America. Not the least of which is cheese - as you are painfully aware. I appreicate car seats, sidewalks for pedestrians, cheese, toilet paper, and a whole lot of other stuff that I'm sure is more important.
I'm Happy to Read Your Blogs I am leaving for India on the 14th of February from NY City. Your blog has helped me as I am very nervous about making the trip. I will be traveling alone and I hate planes. It's such a long flight!
When I arrive in Bangalore,my friend and his brother will be waiting to take me to Mysore where I will be spending most of my trip. I am returning to NY on the 24th of February.
Keep blogging.I am feeling much less isolated. It's good to know Americans are nearby. I stressing over culture shock.
Keep having fun!

Sue 'Em! No recourse, huh? Well, I dont' know what that feels like. Man - if Starbuck's decided not to open until 8:45 am, there would be an all-out riot here in LA. Especially on Sundays! People getting up for church and all.
Tee hee. Hang in there. Lots of coffee waiting for you when you get back.
Chips and salsa You're funny! Not only did you devote a whole blog page to chips and salsa you actually did the kodak moment and captured it on film. Glad your stomach is better so you can enjoy it. It's good you're getting the hang of the shopping process. I agree with you about not worrying about whether you're paying more than the locals, as long as you're happy with the price...the sales people have to make a living too. Take care...take heart...your time is almost up.
Animal Heaven I am a little jealous of you with all these cool animals you've been able to see. I love the pics! I had a dream the other night that I was holding a baby elephant and it was really cute. If you get the chance to meet any more exotic animals, DO take more pictures of it all. I'm living vicariously at the moment.
Keep having fun!
Bangalore Bum? I love Indian food too - and usually get what you're experiencing - but before my last trip to India I made a life-changing discovery, magic pills called Travelan. See my entry about travellers' diarrohea on the TravelBlog forum pages (http://www.travelblog.org/Forum/Threads/591-1.html).
Keep taking the tablets - and keep smiling!
Mike
The glass is always half empty Julie! this is great..this is the diet plan you were looking forward to!!! And you didn't have to get a tapeworm to get it!
Ewww- bugs Isn't it lame that the thing that stuck with me the most out of that entire blog was the part about bugs? Lame. I think you made the right choice in not becoming an archeologist. I'm sure there would be lots of spiders and such. Not to mention dried up corpses and bones and icky things like that. Anyhow - I love the picture you took of yourself. Those are always FUN pictures - where you hold the camera out in front of you and take a shot. You're looking good - sorry about the stomache problems. I don't really know what to tell ya except that there is no telling what sorts of unfamiliar organisms live in the food in that part of the world. There's stuff in our food, too, but we're used to it. It may just be a tough adjustment for your system. Hope you feel better. In the meantime - maybe you'll lose some more weight, huh? At least it may be a side benefit. Always a welcome side effect.
Anyhow - we miss you. See ya!
Love to you Hi honney
Love your Blog. You're mom sent it to me. It really sounds like fun over there. Are you sure you are working. LOL Looking forward to more.
Love ya bunches
New Year Greeetings from Michigan Julie, your Mom and I were talking and catching up on things over the holidays (we worked together at Cornerstone in GR) and she told me about your blog site. What a great experience for you to be in India for a few months!
Happy New Year to you too!! Just want to wish you a Happy New Year too. I saw a news report following the new years around the world and saw them celebrating in India...but it was probably already well into your new year before I saw the report. Trust all is well with you and you have a wonderful New Years Day.
other thing Things that i eat with hand in US
pizza, fries, burger, subs, wings, burrito, taco, bbq, and a lot more. Somehow when Indians eat their food with hands become so weird. hmm
