A 3 Day Weekend

Since today was technically a holiday in both the US and in India some of my friends and I went to Ooty to relax. I'm not sure "relax" is the best word to describe the weekend, but it was awesome!
Ooty is one of the Hill Stations from when the British occupied India. The main focus of this sort of trip is the wildlife parks and the tea plantations. Since I envisioned being on an old tea plantation I mostly thought I'd spend most of my time sitting in the sun, reading a book and drinking tea. Sounds relaxing.
Instead we packed a ton of stuff into our weekend. I went with three guys from my office who are also out here working. Two of the guys are amateur filmmakers and one is an amateur photographer. I cannot claim to be either but thanks to a trip with these three I got some amazing pictures with my cheap little Kodak Easyshare. Sometimes we couldn't make it more than a mile up or down the mountain before our driver would patiently pull as far over to the side as he dared so the guys could jump out and take more photos or shoot more video.
Ooty is up in the mountains in Tamilnadu and is simply gorgeous. There are eucalyptus trees all over and the place usually smells heavenly.
I got home this afternoon dirty, exhausted and thrilled to have been able to take such a fantastic mini vacation.
