Cafe Coffee Day Sign
Hanging in a tree outside of Cafe Coffee Day in Bangalore There is rumor that Starbucks wants to set up shop in India. Fact is there is no need for a Starbucks here. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Starbucks coffee and they make the best iced Americanos I've ever had, but major cities in India have two great coffee shops that more than adequately cater to tourists and the young Indian population alike. Short of searching for an iced Americano I would choose Cafe Coffee Day or Barista over Starbucks next time I visit India. Cafe Coffee Day offers an incredible selection of drinks that Starbucks couldn't even hope to touch. I don't visit the Barista as often because Coffee Day is more prevalent but my experiences with Barista drinks has been great.
So Starbucks? You can stay out of India. You have a faithful customer base in other countries already. Why taint the Indian coffee landscape.
As for Coffee Day? I would enjoy their presence in the States.

I'm Happy to Read Your Blogs
I am leaving for India on the 14th of February from NY City. Your blog has helped me as I am very nervous about making the trip. I will be traveling alone and I hate planes. It's such a long flight! When I arrive in Bangalore,my friend and his brother will be waiting to take me to Mysore where I will be spending most of my trip. I am returning to NY on the 24th of February. Keep blogging.I am feeling much less isolated. It's good to know Americans are nearby. I stressing over culture shock. Keep having fun! Anne
