I admit it, I'm spoiled. I'm used to the 24/7 living that Los Angeles offers me. I'm not so lucky here in Bangalore.
Bangalore is a happening, up-and-coming city but it still has yet to embrace the 24 hour culture. Sure, there are numerous coffee shops and restaurants listed as 24 hour but it's no guarantee. I just went over to a coffee shop that has a giant "We are open 24 hours" sign on it and they weren't open yet. it was 8:45am!
What gives?
It's not like you really have any recourse. You can't threaten to go to another coffee shop. None of them are open nor do they claim to be.
You just have to suck it up and hope you make it until they decide to open. And there are no set hours really. It's just whenever things get set up.
The only exception to this "we're only 24 hours when we want to be" attitude is if you go to restaurants in fancy hotels that specifically cater to the impatient Americans who are used to eating at odd times and who need their coffee fix at 6am.
Unfortunately I do not live or work near any of them.

Sue 'Em!
No recourse, huh? Well, I dont' know what that feels like. Man - if Starbuck's decided not to open until 8:45 am, there would be an all-out riot here in LA. Especially on Sundays! People getting up for church and all. Tee hee. Hang in there. Lots of coffee waiting for you when you get back.
