Day 7 Although I felt a little seedy, I couldn't stay in bed, we were flying out at 11.40am and needed to be at the airport 2 hours before so I dragged my sorry ass out of bed and sat in the shower for a bit. A piece of dry bread was all I could stomach. Silly vodka... The flight was uneventful, although the views taking off from Langkawi were stunning. KLIA2 airport is easy to navigate so we made good time, especially as I was keen to rest. We had some issues getting a Grab to our hotel and what should have taken us an hour took us 2, arghhhh. We checked into our new Air BnB, a nice room in Bukit Bintang. We didn't have the stunning view that the Regalia Residences had but ... read more

Day 6 It was an early wake up for today's adventure of snorkeling at Pulau Payer Island. We still had time to enjoy our coffee and breakfast on our balcony watching the early morning birds on the roof of the buildings and mesmerized by the hues of the ocean before we set off. The clouds looked dark and thunder could be heard bellowing in the distance. On the bus ride over the rain began to pour, we weren't worried, having seen Malaysian thunderstorms before not lasting too long we figured it would rain now and leave us with blue skies to enjoy our snorkeling. Waiting with lots of people for our ferry ride, the rain eased off and our journey was over calm waters getting closer to those blue skies we had hoped for. The ferry ... read more

Day 5 A lazy morning of cooking breakfast (after messaging for milk and butter) and not doing too much except back and forth messaging to our contacts regarding the room debacle. Nothing had been resolved so they offered us a cab driver for free for the day. We were off to the Skycab, which is a cable car that takes you high up the mountain for panoramic views of Langkawi. The peak of the mountain was covered in clouds and we deliberated about whether we went up or not. Asking a few people who had exited the cable car about the view they told us there were some good patches inbetween the clouds. Initially we weren't sold on it and I felt grumpy, mainly because we were originally going to go the day before after arrival ... read more

As check out was at 11 we wanted to get one last swim in the infinity pool abnd check out the view during the day. Although the city lights of Kuala Lumpur were spectacular the city by day was nice in it's own way. KLIA 2 airport is small and cute as. So many little shops, it was like a mini shopping mall. The plane ride to Langkawi was just over an hour. With our little meal (chicken spaghetti) and water it was over so quickly. Langkawi airport was tiny and there were people waving signs and yelling about car hire. We ordered a Grab, it cost $3 AUS. The resort front lobby was nice and our contact greeted us within a few minutes. Taking us by golf car to our accommodation I checked the ... read more

Day 3 Today's adventure started at the Batu Caves. A Hindu sacred temple set up some 200 plus steps in the middle of the cave. Too be honest I was dreading it. I'm not the most physically fit person and my sciatica was playing up and well stairs are definately not on my keys gets excited list. The weather was warm and by the end of the climb a shiny wet layer of sweat covered is from head to toe. I was surprised I made it, taking a break every 30 to 40 steps. Kym and Star beat me by like ages. But i did it. So I guess I felt somewhat accomplished. The cave itself was being upgraded/renovated so pictures inside probably weren't at the peak for selfies that they should be. Many Hindu people ... read more

Day 2 Today's adventure started at the KL Bird Park. We arrived in time for Hornbill feeding and we all got a turn to feed them. They are really gentle and the one we fed was quite big. For those that don't know Zazu from the Lion King is a Hornbill but a lot smaller than the Rhinoceros Hornbill, Malaysia's national bird, that we fed. I was already pretty happy with this highlight and my day got better. A quick bite to eat, Kym chose Nasi Goreng and I went with Char kway teow, Star nibbled on some satays. The bird show was held in an amphitheatre and we watched parrots including macaws perform. I put my hand up to help in one part and had a macaw fly to my arm, rewarding him with a ... read more

I never sleep well before a flight so by the time I got up I was so tired. Kym and Star were the same. Leaving Adelaide I had all the essentials packed; mermaid tail, EMF device, flushable bum wipes, bubblewrap and a pack of Allen's Killer Pythons.. you got to have snakes on a plane.. So I have to say that Malaysian airlines are pretty high up on customer service. After the seat belt sign was turned off staff went through the cabin with a juice or water. Taking an obligatory drink we did wait a while for the food service, being at the back of the plane that was to be expected. Our two choices were a frittata or coconut chicken rice.. for breakfast. Star and I chose the rice dish and Kym the frittata ... read more

Day 15 We had originally planned to go to Pearl Harbour but the hour and a half journey there and then back again plus that neither of us had it high on our priority list we decided against it. Today was going to be a chill day. We started with a beach walk down to the marina. Off the shore at one of the beaches we were hoping to snorkel at was a boat that looked like it was sinking. The coast guard was out and they were going to clear the beach soon. We walked nabbed towards our hotel with a quick swim but the beach had lots of rocks but not ones that attracted cool fish and it was wavy and not much to be seen so we headed back to the hotel. We ... read more

Day 16 Our last day in Hawai'i ? and I wasn't feeling the best. I was still swaying from the boat or the rum, couldnt really tell to be honest ? I was struggling so I packed the suitcases and had a shower. Kym was keen to go back to the Hilton and find their other pools, I wasn't keen on getting there but agreed, the pool would be nice. The hotel next door had a sign saying Dole Whip which is a pineapple gelato (probably the best description for them) They were yummo and I felt a bit better. It also had a sign saying poolside bar 3rd floor... well that's just an open invitation to use their pool isn't it? ? So we swam and I did feel better. Kym wanted to surf so ... read more

Day 12 We were both quite red, too much sun the day before... My shoulders hurt where I caught the sun the most. Another buffet brekky. The birds around the island, in particular, doves, sparrows and myna birds were everywhere, friendly and helping themselves to the buffet if the lids over the foods weren't down or if something had been spilled. The dining area was big open windows and doors for a view of the ocean so the birds could literally go anywhere. Just before we checked out of the hotel we spent ten minutes enjoying the view from our lanai. We saw a sea turtle swim right at the front of where the ocean meets the shore and watched it make its way across, I was pretty excited. We checked out but as we had ... read more
