Mon. Jan. 15 2013 Yesterday we did a bus tour into the earthquake damaged inner city of Christchurch. This area is cordoned off and the only way to get in is by a special bus tour. I have more pictures but I will post a few. They have been cleaning up for the last few years. It must have been unbelievable after it happened. It is very sad and depressing to see a city turn into a ghost town. But after the 2nd WW, London and Berlin rose again from far worse. I'm sure CHC will do the same. Time is running down. Only a few more blogs. Click on the picture, they will enlarge. As always Lowell... read more

Hello it's me again, Not much going on today. Weather iffy. Rain off and on. Good day for a small Garden and a museum. I hate museums! But off we go. It's a settlers museum, how bad could it be. So here's the story. The Chinese Garden was designed and built in Shanghai China. Dismantled and shipped to Dunedin New Zealand and reassembled. So a few images from that. Almost next to it is the Otago Settlers Meuseum. So it was warm and dry inside. Makes it almost palatable. So I think it says in the Bible somewhere. Whosoever carries a camera, therefore must useth it. So I takes me some photos. I had to be bored at the museum. But in all honesty, the camera took the images when I was sleep walking through the ... read more

Hello again, I think you all will be happy when this travel blog comes to an end. I think it's been over 70 days. It is too long of a trip to keep up with. But for you loyal blog readers. This is how it went yesterday. This drive takes all day as you average about 15 mph. The Otago Peninsula juts out into the Pacific to the east of Dunedin. To drive it the small narrow winding road hugs the coastline on the way out and then comes back via the High Cliff road. A very warm day here. 85* when they only forecasted 65*. Here are a few images from yesterday. L... read more

Hello everybody, We are pretty far south in the Southern Hemisphere . The daylight lasts till 10:30 pm. Dunedin was settled by the Scottish settlers and has many buildingsthat are reminiscent of the UK. The one thing I did not expect is how hilly and winding it would be. The traffic is not to bad as Wellington. The whole population of NZ is 4 million. 3 million are on the north island even though it Is somewhat smaller. Our time here is getting shorter. We will be leaving from Christchurch in about 2weeks. Hope to see some rare yellow eyed penguins before we leave. A few images from the Dunedin Botanical garden. It is rated as a Garden of International Significance. As always Lowell Ps. If you look closely at the picture of the Rav4, you ... read more

Hello all, I'm sorry my blogs have been sporadic. And the images nil. But hope to make up for it on this blog. I think we will have Internet from now on. Sure hope so. We leave tomorrow morning for Dunedin which is further south and on the east coast (Pacific). We will leave the Southern Alps to return to the sea.Dundedin is the most European of all the New Zealand cities. I think Dunedin means Edenbourgh in Galic. Looking forward to some new architecture. BTW, only sheep with horns is the Merino buck. The scripture's Are certainly right about the sheep only hear their masters voice. They sure didn't hear mine.
