A little valley in Austria, Today we have driven out of Germany into a small dead end valley in Austria. We did a small hike only on the easy flat part, maybe 1 mile RT. At the end we have had a soup and enjoyed seeing the small cow barns where they collect the milk. After we have had our meal we realized that we have left our money way back in the car at the parking place. So I left Gloria as a ransom, and hiked back to the car and returned to get her out of hock. It is part of the adventure. This same day we have driven 10 miles before we realized we have left the video tapes behind at the house. So back we go. The pictures I send are of ... read more

Europe » Germany » Bavaria August 21st 2014

Hello again Today the rain has let up. We have made a tour to king Ludwid II palace on the island in the lake Chiemsee. It is the third of his castles. Neuschschawnstein, and also Linderhof. I think it is the grandest and fashioned after Versallias near Paris. We have seen both, but this is better. They have said that in today's money it would Take 2-4 billion to build it now. They did not let me take pictures inside but I did buy a DVD that I will share. I wish I could have inside images to send. Thanks for watching Lowell... read more

Hello again We are now in southern Barvaria. Austria is only a stones throw south. We arrived on Monday after a quite long drive on the AutoBahn from Berlin. About 5 1/2 hrs. Mostly at an avg of 80-85 mph. The fast cars were passing me at about 100 min. Barvaria is very beautiful. Large farm homes and rolling farm land right up to the Barvarian Alps. So many towns and small villages with non-pronounceable (is that a word) names. Here are some images from the last few days. Lowell (lost in Barvaria)... read more

Europe » Germany » Lower Saxony » Hamelin August 3rd 2014

Hello everyone, Things are not going well on the photo side of the blog. I can get on Gloria's Ipad but not my laptop, and that's Where all my photos are stored. Cheap Apple Ipad has no USB to import images. So today we went to Hamelin made famous by brothers Grim fairy tales. It's all about the rats. {Pied Piper} They did a great presentation. Of course all in German, but we know the story so it all made sense. We have a Peugeot 308 SWA diesel with 6 speed manual. Somewhat disappointed as we are only getting 46 MPG. Most likely because of all the small villages we drive through. To tell you about our experiences with accommodations would take more of this blog then I can afford to use. So till next time. ... read more
