Day 3 April 22, 2014 The Way… It’s a movie, rent it or check it out from your local library. We wake up and the raining has stopped, Kirsten is first into the showers and I follow right behind. Oma and Opa are waiting for us in the dining room having breakfast. It’s not to Hedy’s standard. Go figure, the breakfast breads were too hard and no meat or cheese. We all pile into the car and head north. We’re following one of the 25 famous road trips in Spain. Thanks to Carl for getting us this book. Of course we made a few minor adjustment, suggested by Kirsten. So were heading due north on A138, in Spain toward the Pyrenees Mountains. Land Ho – The new World April 20th - Barcelona We arrived in Barcelona Sunday morning with a big bump against the dock. I think that was our wakeup call. I roll over and Kirsten is just out of bed, I think we just ran ashore. Yeah, at least it was land. LOL We’re up, packed and ready, our departure time is 9:30ish. We go to the Lido Deck and have one last Holland American breakfast. Around 9:30 we depart the ship. We go through passport control and find our luggage. We work our way to the taxi; when it’s our time, we pile into the clown car with our luggage. Off to the airport we go, Opa is in the co-pilot seat giving directions. Drew and I woke up to the ringing of the cathedral bells. What an awesome alarm clock Drew says. Yea, Yea, I take my shower first and I’m out the door. I'll see you down stairs. Drew arrives and we discussed our route to Stuttgart. Drew ask how do the flights look, I logon and say you know they look pretty good surprising. We might not get upfront but we’ll get on. We settle our bill say our good byes, as were walking to the car Drew ask why did everyone come to see us off. They kept talking about a skiing game; I don’t think EA has a skiing game. Drew was up and showered, I was dragging from the day before. Come on dad this is the day we're going to Gubbio. Oh yea! We're going to Gubbio. The first thing Drew requested when we discussed this trip was he wanted to go to Gubbio. You ask where is Gubbio and why? I’m glad you asked; Gubbio is tightly tied to St Francis of Assisi. You know the guy in the cool robe with sandals holding the birds. Well the story has it their was a big bad wolf killing off the folks in Gubbio, so St Francis comes and takes a throne from his paw and everyone is happy including the wolf. I wake up and Drew is already up and in the shower. Ok, wait a minute let’s review that first line. Drew is up and in the shower. Am I dreaming? No, it’s for real. He comes out, I go in this is going to be a great day. We head down stairs and eat breakfast, and at the same time we discuss our agenda for today. Drew agrees, first Pisa, Second Luca and third Greve. Our hotel gives us great directions and Drew navigates me to the FREE parking. We hop out of the car and start walking toward the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It’s about a 5-minute walk and as we turn the corner there it is. Let’s hurry before it falls over I say to Drew.
