Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236We started the day at Westminster Abbey where we did the audio tour. This is a London must do in my opinion and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it – not so sure about the kids, but the deal was put up with the Abbey and then we will go to Madame Tussauds! After the Abbey we caught the tube to Baker Street and joined the surprisingly short line for Madam Tussauds. Thank goodness we had another 2-4-1 here as it was £30 each! This was by far the most expensive admission fee we had. I didn't enjoy this very much, but didn't really expect to, we had visited a similar place in Hollywood a couple of years ago and once would have been enough. It was very much the main thing my ... read more

Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236This morning we were lazy and called a cab to take us to Greenwich. We were splitting the cost with a friend, and it came to around £27 . We wanted to get Greenwich fairly quickly, so the river was out and there seemed to be lots of work going on around the DLR and other lines around Greenwich, so cab it was.It was my second visit to the Royal Observatory and I enjoyed it just as much this time. We spent some time there and then walked back down to the river to purchase tickets for the City Cruises cruise back to town. Again we got to use a 2-4-1 offer for this. I loved the City Cruise tour last time and found the commentators to be very amusing as well as knowledgeable. ... read more

Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236This morning caught the tube to the Tower of London, using another 2-4-1 offer, and joined the first Beefeater tour. I cannot recommend this highly enough. I went to the Tower last year but did not do the Beefeater tour as I didn't have the time. The experience was so much better this year, they explain so many things that makes the whole experience more interesting, as well as being very funny. We had lunch in the cafe at the Tower, which was quite good, before heading by tube to St. Pauls. Yet another 2-4-1! We did the audio tour, but unfortunately our feet gave out before we climbed the dome. Something left to come back to another time. We returned to the hotel for a short rest and freshen up, before heading to dinner ... read more

Geo: 51.5002, -0.126236We spent our last morning in Oxford having a final walk around before being collected by our driver for the trip to London. We could have easily caught the train as I did on my last trip, but with four of us and far too much luggage it was much easier to be driven. The price was not greatly more than four train tickets and the journey was much easier! We arrived at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge at around midday. We were luckily able to check in early, but wasted a bit of time by being given the wrong room and needing to move. We ate a quick lunch in the Italian cafe, Espressamente, in the hotel lobby, before heading out to Waterloo to purchase our paper travel cards. ... read more

Geo: 51.7523, -1.25582This morning we did the Oxford Castle Unlocked experience which I admit I didn't really want to do. I have to say it was a very enjoyable morning and the tour was done very well indeed. I highly recommend this as a way to get an idea of the history of Oxford Castle and jail. We then caught the bus down to Wolvercote. This was where one of my grandparents lived when I was a child and I wanted to show the family the village and particularly Wolvercote Common... read more

This was where one of my grandparents lived when I was a child and I wanted to show the family the village and particularly Wolvercote Common, where I had spent so much time playing as a child. We walked through the village and on to the Trout for lunch. We didn’t have a reservation but luckily managed to get a table. I was amazed how crowded it was on a cold winter’s day! ... read more
