Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097The next morning I awoke at 3.30am. Obviously jet lag was kicking in, unfortunately it stayed with me the whole trip – not once did I sleep past 5.30am and we were usually up til midnight. Still I was never particularly tired during the day, too much to see and do. This time we walked the opposite way down Rue Dauphine and stopped at a cafe named Le Nesle. My daughter is an egg lover, and unfortunately this cafe did not do eggs so that was our one and only visit there. Still, we had a typical French breakfast which was very nice. We then stopped at the tabac over the road to purchase our carnet of Metro tickets. I was a bit nervous about using the Metro as I had not used it before ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097Our flight arrived on time at 6.30am and we easily moved through customs and into a taxi. We drove quite quickly to Paris without traffic being too much of a problem. We were shocked at how dark it was and how long it took to become light! I think it was around 9.00am before it was daylight.

This is my second trip to Paris as I visited for three days with my eldest daughter last year. Geo: -37.8143, 144.963Our flight left Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne at 10.30pm. We were all very excited, as it was the first Europe trip for our two younger children Stephanie, aged 20, and Jayden, aged 17. Gary, my husband, had been to the UK once for work, but that was it.... read more

Geo: 7.97501, 98.3515Saturday was our last day, we spent it in last minute shopping in Kata, lunch at Kata Mama looking at the beach and just generally relaxing. We booked ourselves into the Coral Lounge at Phuket Airport. This was worth every penny. Staff from the lounge met us at the kerbside when Daj (our driver) dropped us off, and three staff members escorted us through the whole check in and immigration process. They even filled out the departure cards for us! The lounge was ... read more

Staff from the lounge met us at the kerbside when Daj (our driver) dropped us off, and three staff members escorted us through the whole check in and immigration process. They even filled out the departure cards for us! The lounge was very comfortable with snacks and cold drinks available and excellent complimentary internet access. Very good shoulder and neck massages were also available at no cost. The only downside was that they don’t have their toilets so you have to go out to the airport ones which were filthy. When I went out to ... read more

Today was to be our day spent in Patong. As I mentioned on Day One of this blog, we don't really like Patong and prefer not to stay there. Having said that we always spend one day here as the Otop Markets and great for shopping and it is always good to have a look around. We had never managed to find the time to get to Junceylon shopping centre before, so today was the day. It was pretty much a shopping centre like any other in Thailand, blissfully air conditioned after the heat outside. The men in our party discovered that there was a shooting range, so obviously that was first stop. I am not remotely interested in shooting so I chose the watch, but the others enjoyed themselves tremendously. After the shooting we made ... read more

Geo: 7.97501, 98.3515Today we hired a driver to take us to Rawaii - the cost was 600 baht each way for a van for 6 of us. We wandered around Rawaii, looking at the market stalls and the view, and then hired a longtail boat to take us to Coral Island's Banana Beach. The longtail was 1800 baht for 6 people. This was a terrific day, but I would advise going later than we did, preferably after 2.00pm. The beach was packed with tour groups when we arrived and there were no beach cha... read more

We wandered around Rawaii, looking at the market stalls and the view, and then hired a longtail boat to take us to Coral Island’s Banana Beach. The longtail was 1800 baht for 6 people. This was a terrific day, but I would advise going later than we did, preferably after 2.00pm. The beach was packed with tour groups when we arrived and there were no beach chairs or snorkels available. Fortunately we had our own snorkels and simply laid on our towels. I was a bit disappointed at first as there weren’t many fish to be seen, but once the tours left at 2.00 things changed dramatically. We had a great ... read more
