Hello all, Now I know that I sent you all a blog only a few days ago, but since then I have been to Angkor Wat and have several photos you may or may not wish to see. Further more, I've been in a car crash.... At this point you should probably know that the said crash was in fact a collision between an electric bike (or more accuratly American Andy's electric bike) and a young ladies moto. Regretfully she clipped the back of the bike, where I was and wiped out. However, both myself and Andy were unhurt and apart from a slight graze and the expected shock she was as well. For those who may care a little more for Dylan or Liz than for me, no they where not involved and were not ... read more

3 or so weeks inland in the searing heat made us yearn for the islands more than ever. We did what we had to do in Phnom Penh and bolted for the highly touted Ko Chang National Park. After a 10 hrs of bus, scooter, ferry, taxi, minibus we collapsed into our NZ $12 a/c room at the clean little toen (everything seems clean after Cambodia) of Trat. It was a week day, and it was quiet...exactly what we wanted. The best part was not being hounded 24/7 to buy numerous pieces of junk! we got daring at the local market and tryed a few starnge things. The markest are just so cheap for food. 80c for a great feed. The next morning, we paid a small fortune to catch what must have been Thailands flashest ... read more

Written Sunday evening ----------------------- My body is pretty destroyed after everything I've put it through during the last three days. After we left the billiard hall on Saturday, we hung out at a fast-food place for a little bit but then had finally killed enough time to go home. Unfortunately, while my first bus begins running at 6:05, the second one does not run until 7:25. So I walked 8 km back home (destroying my feetsies), took a shower, and went to bed shortly after 8 a.m. After four hours, I got up so that I could head out into the city and get some new shoes. The ones I have are okay, but simply can't hold up to the amount of walking that I need to be able to do. So I went to Teramachi, ... read more

Chiang Mai - Bangkok (16hrs 3rd class train) Bangkok - Chompong (9hrs 3.c.t) Chompong - Koh Toa (6hr ferry) We finally arrived at the main beach area @ 5am but none of the guest houses where open! We met 2 Swedish gals & a Irish lad getting beers at the 7/11 (they had been partyin all nite) & they asked us to come & have beers @ there bungalow? 5 in the morn, not a bad time to start drinkin! Koh Toa is a very chilled place, nice beaches, good snorkeling, a few good bars & some crazy roads! I stayed 3 days, 1st day drinkin on the beach, next recovering & chillin on the beach & the 3rd i hired a scooter and toured the Is. I went to all the main bays & had ... read more

In the land of national holidays, i.e. Japan, there are three days off in the first week of May. These days make up Golden Week. With a few extra days of holiday leave, I had a week to enjoy yet another Asian adventure. I spent my Golden Week on a whirlwind tour of Beijing and Shanghai with my friends Jennifer, Julie and Ellie. It took a day of travel to get from Hiroshima to Beijing. We flew first to Shanghai, and transferred planes to Beijing. When we got to the airport, there was a nice man (Martin) waiting for us to take us to our hostel…great door to door service! From the beginning, Beijing by far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend a visit! I think the fact that it wasn’t an overly modern or fast-paced ... read more

Guangzhou is to the west of America as Dalian is to the east. People in Guangzhou are relaxed and take time in their lives to truly spend freely. People in Dalian are busy - never have time to do anything but study and work. Guangzhou is full of greenery and has water running through it. Dalian has no greenery and has water running on two sides of it. These are some of the observances I've made today as I have traveled around Guandong a little bit - to parts of Guangzhou, Foshan and Daliang. This morning after getting ready for the day I walked around and found the metro to Yuexiu Park where I walked around for quite some time. There were people relaxing in all different parts of the park. Sitting reading books, dancing with ... read more

It was warm here today - 80 degrees (F). We started the day off with our free american breakfast, which was pretty good. It was buffet-style and on the 40th floor, so we got a nice view of Tokyo. Afterwards we took the metro to the Imperial Palace, and walked through the East Garden - which is the only part open to the public. There were some beautiful flowers in bloom, the colors were just amazing. Because it was warm we decided to go to Ebisu and visit the Sapporo/Yebisu Beer Museum. It was free to go into and they had a small telling of the history and how the beer is made. Nothing like the Guiness museum in Dublin! But they had a tasting room. They have these vending machines you put your money into ... read more

Our last night in Sihanoukville was eventful ... Finding ourselves starving in a beachfront bar, the owner left his otherwise deserted pub and drove us down town to eat. He dropped us off and waited outside while we finished our dinner, what great service! The cambodian restaurant was deserted apart from us and the entire family of the owner who seemed fascinated by the "barang" and all sat around and watch us eat our beef with pineapple!!... I doubt we will ever again have service like it! Several plates of nibbles were brought out and our beer glass was rarely empty! However freaky it was to have 16 people watch you eat, we won't forget their friendliness or great food in a hurry. We felt a bit guilty about the bar owner outside so the least ... read more

Asia » Thailand » Central Thailand » Pattaya April 30th 2006

(Daryl) Well folks, after a few days, we got outta Bangkok, but left some Bangkok photos here as an encore. We headed 5 hours southeast to the hedonistic city of Pattaya, where the women are hot, but their diseases are not. This is a city that's based on it's overcrowded beach and its thriving sex industry workers that you run into EVERYWHERE. Anytime the three of us would walk by one of Pattaya's many bars/brothels, we'd hear 10-20 "ladies of the evening" shout in Thanglish "Welcun you hansun men" with the hopes that we would stop and take them "out." All of us got our butts grabbed on more than one occasion. Pattaya did have a nice, cheap buffet though. (A side note: If you wanna get Kev's attention, all you gotta do is mention that ... read more

blog by Bronia We last left you in Sri Lanka on April 25, flying out from a country on the brink of civil war between the Tamils and the ruling Sinhilese, and which over the past few weeks we have heard the Tamils being denounced by the UN for its actions (breaking a cease-fire agreement) as well as officially declaring itself in a state of 'low grade war'. We think we left the country just at the right time. Our flight out of Colombo returning to Trivandrum, India was nearly empty but we sat close to a UK couple Tracy & Albert Beusman who we had met in the airport lounge whilst waiting for our late flight to take off and exchanged travel stories. As we were landing in Trivandrum, one of India's most southerly ... read more
