1st-3rd October The bus was actually kind of enjoyable! It was pleasant to travel overground and watch the scenery slip past and the driver, although kind of rude and shouty, was relatively safe by Vietnamese standards. Maybe being a bit grumpy comes with the bus/coach driving career in general? We weren't too bothered either way, as the seats were actually mini sleeping berths which, although a bit short and enclosed around the feet, was strangely comfortable. It was amazing how quickly the big grey city changed into miles of flat rice paddies, and then suddenly into trees and lush green mountains, and then again into sand and brush and roadside shops, houses, etc. Mui Ne is essentially just a long stretch of coastline and beach resorts, with shops restaurants and tour companies on the inland side ... read more

5 hours later and several bouts of sickness later we finally arrived at our destination, where i proceeded to be sick for most of the day! So day 1 was pretty much a write off, but i was delighted to have a bed and aircon and my own toilet should i need it! The next day we went to check out the beach and were sorely disappointed. The beach was very very narrow to the point where you could hardly actually lie down without reachng the water. The water was really choppy and filled with rubbish. Furthermore, any decent patch of sand was part of a hotel and they wanted to charge a crazy amount of money to use their facilities. I fortunately found a bit to lie on but we kind of knew there and ... read more

Day 12 - Easy Riders to Lak Lake Well, I'm the latest I think I have ever been with my blog! There was so little time yesterday or last night. First of all we are absolutely loving being in the bikes! Our drivers arrived on time yesterday at the hotel, they introduced themselves as Terry and Hoa (pronounced Wa) We packed up, and set off. We are heading for Lak Lake. We stop about hour, just to stop numb bum! The first stop was at a fish market; not a pleasant ell, but a welcome break. We passed do much different stuff, it is possible to recount it all! We saw lobster farms, shrimp farms, so many varieties of vegetation; coffee, peppercorns, sugarcane, coca, tapioca, corn, to name a few. With every stop Hoa, told is ... read more

Day 11 - Nha Trang Well.... It was an interesting overnight bus drive! It was late, but that was to be expected round here! The driver stopped after about 1 hours, which was a bit soon in a twelve hour journey. He was obviously hungry; I saw his full to the edges dinner table! But for us, it was too soon to want to use the loo. We just chilled off the bus for 30 mins. Then all back on, but with an extra hoard of Vietnamese people who all laid in the aisles. I think they got mates rates! They also brought with them the smell of cooking, which in a confined bus space was very sickly! On we went, it got to about 3am; an irate foreign lady stomped down the bus, walking over ... read more

Day 10 Stayed up late last night packing my bag for the night bus to Nha Trang tomorrow. I'm finding it difficult to pack everything because I've bought so much. Another good nights sleep. Up , showered and down for breakfast for 9am. The showers have been cold, but it's amazing how you just get used to it... Lol, I'm still hoping for a nice warm shower in Nha Trang. We checked out, 10210000 Dong (£6 a night) Hoa Binh hotel with pool! Worth every penny. It's been raining again and is overcast. It's still warm but not beach weather. We decided not to go to the beach and headed to the river to go on a boat trip. A bride was having her photo taken on the dock she look so beautiful. After haggling down ... read more

Day 10 - Last day Hoi An, move to Nha Trang The day started at about 7.30, with a natural wake up. We have to pack our bags, and be organised as we are checking out after breakfast. We were done and dusted by about nine..ish. My breakfast seems to have grown in size everyday here! Today I added a bowl of cornflakes to have before the omelette, mixed salad, copious amounts of bread, bread and jam, orange juice, tea, then topped off with a leftover Choco Pie and more tea! I think it's a blessing that we are leaving later today! Lol We have another easy day today, no shopping needed now, all done.... Or so we thought! We have a couple of bits to pick up, we both need a new lead, me for ... read more

Day 9 - cycling in Hoi An and Cam Nam Island Another easy start to the day with no alarm again. We packed bags before going down to breakfast as we are expecting a room move due to needing an extra night. This being because of not being able to get on the bus that we needed to. Therefore one extra day in Hoi An. As it is an extra day, we had nothing planned. We had a really filling breakfast before making our plans for the day. It's raining today, not heavily, but enough to put us off going to the beach! We agreed on getting a shower poncho and heading out on bikes. We have pin pointed a small island over the bridge called Cam Nam. Before leaving we asked about arrangements for the ... read more

Day 9 Had a good nights sleep. Woke up to rain. It's still very warm. We packed our bags as they're moving us to a new room. We had a hearty breakfast. The rain is still coming. We're unsure of what to do in the rain so took some time and looked online. We were a bit late for trips today so we decided to do our own. Hire bicycles and cycle across to Cam Nam island to see the more rural side of Vietnam. We bought long rain macs. We do have them but the ones you buy here go to your ankles and cover more. We cycled in the light rain through the old town it was very refreshing in the heat. We found the large market. We pushed the bikes through as it ... read more

Day 8 - A lazy day at the beach We got up this morning, au natural.... Yayyyy, no alarm clock. We went down foe breakfast which as a really nice change; a buffet breakfast. We had discussed our plans for today last night. The plan is to get a bike and cycle 4km over to An Bang Beach. Before we left we had to confirm our seat on the overnight bus to Nha Trang for tomorrow night, but sadly it is already fully booked. This is a bit of a pain, it just means that we will have to stay in the most amazing city of Hoi Sn with all its simply beautiful Japanese and Chinese influenced shops, bars, cafes and restaurants for an extra night! Ain't that a shame! So, we did get booked onto ... read more

Day 7 - Leave Hue, move to Hoi An Ohhh....it was a bad start to the day! Helens phone alarm didn't go off! We got up at 6.45 instead of 6am. We both jumped out of the bed and got sorted as quick as possible. We did ok, we were downstairs, packed and ready to leave by five past seven.... Which was a feat in itself! Although the shower part got omitted completely, I did manage teeth! We decided to skip breakfast, taking bread with us, in order to be at the bus stop in good time. Although I had misheard Helen, I thought she had said it was half past seven, when in fact it was only five past seven. We set off to find the bus stop, we did do a bit of extra ... read more
