Day 10
Stayed up late last night packing my bag for the night bus to Nha Trang tomorrow. I'm finding it difficult to pack everything because I've bought so much.
Another good nights sleep. Up , showered and down for breakfast for 9am. The showers have been cold, but it's amazing how you just get used to it... Lol, I'm still hoping for a nice warm shower in Nha Trang.
We checked out, 10210000 Dong (£6 a night) Hoa Binh hotel with pool! Worth every penny.
It's been raining again and is overcast. It's still warm but not beach weather. We decided not to go to the beach and headed to the river to go on a boat trip. A bride was having her photo taken on the dock she look so beautiful.
After haggling down the price we jumped on a boat and set off up the Song Thu Bon river for an hour. It was good to see a different perspective. We wondered what the sticks in the water were holding up .... it was electricity cables ! The trip was pleasant. Many boats large and small. We stopped beside a man throwing
his nets. He boarded the boat and asked if we wanted to try. Of course we did! We did realise that it was probably uncle Bob, the boat owners relative, but it was a resourceful way to earn more!brhe fisherman gave instruction and placed the nets in our hands and across our shoulders. Lesley nearly launched herself in but had a couple of goes and did well. I did well too, the nets were not heavy and needless to say we didn't catch anything. The fisherman wanted his photo with me. He was so tiny. We paid him and off he went.
Back on dry land and of course time for a green tea. We then headed to the market. Lesley had a gift in mind but couldn't find what she was looking for. From nowhere we seemed to adopt our very own guide who took us to her sisters shops and the market to find it. Once bought, the lady insisted we come to her stall to buy things. We said we had no more money. She wasn't happy but wished us well.
We were killing time as the bus was not until 6pm so we shopped
a bit more. I bought a themed Vietnam t shirt (a must). Lesley bought a dress for Thea, cushion cover and cigarettes. Then on for more tea at the restaurant we've eaten at the last 2 nights.
We headed back to the hotel the hotel and decided to have a meal as it will be 12 hours on the bus. The little cafe opposite the hotel was a good choice. Shrimp noodles and the usual vegetable spring rolls.
Waiting for the bus from 5pm a mini bus picked us up at 6.30pm to take us to the bus station. It held 8 people but we got13 in and back packs ! We got going on the bus but stopped after 2 hours for a driver break. Used usual stand up communal toilets and consoled myself by buying peanut brittle.
