Tjue minutter i et bad ... read more

So its been 7 days since I last updated this....Sorry folks! THe last time I wrote, we were about to head to our first beach experience in Sihanoukville. We arrived after about a 5 hour bus journey and got checked in to a really nice hotel. Our room was right outside the pool and about a 5 minute walk to the local beach. Unfortunately, the weather was really stormy and it rained for several hours, along with thunder and lightening. So we just lay around while it rained!! That evening we went to a beach restaurant and had some barbequed food which was good. Here, Peter discovered his enjoyment in drinking "Buckets" of alcohol!!haha.. On Saturday, our whole tour got a boat to another island. We stopped about half way and jumped into the water and ... read more

Rain Rain go away, come again another day!! That pretty much summed up our time in Nha Trang! We arrived in a downpour and left in torrential rain 48 hours later. In that time we did manage to have a delicious Indian Curry, just like back home, a stroll around the centre and the most hilarious bike ride. One afternoon the rain subsided for half an hour and looked to be clearing. How wrong we were! We decided to rent some bicycles to see a bit more of the city and its attractions. We headed towards the Pagoda statue which was also meant to have a great view over the city. However, no more than half an hour after we'd jumped on our bikes, the heavens opened, thank god we took our waterproof ponchos with us. ... read more

So after Hoa's Place, I rode off into the sunset with Sarah (comrade and China Beach graduate) to Hoi An. This was just a stop over en-route to party-place Nha Trang. I loved the time up to this point in 'Nam but I was ready for a bit of shameless partying; something that Nha Trang promised to offer. With pop-chart hip-hop and cheese galore, this sea side town could basically have been anywhere. I only spent 2 nights there and although it was great fun, I don't think my liver needed any more. We rocked up at 5 in the morning so crashed straight away. Really randomly, one of the other people in our room was from sunny Brighton and we both recognised each other from various house parties etc. The weather wasn't great so we ... read more

... read more

Part One - 2nd November Hey All, It's 7.30am and I've just waded through the flood water that comes up to my shin to the tourist office to see if our bus is heading for Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) today. It's not; I knew that would be the case. Mat and I are desperately trying to get to HCMC to get to the British Consulate so we can sort out emergency travel documents as our passports have been stolen. Looks like we will be stuck in Nha Trang for at least three days. I understand that for those who aren't in the know this is probably a bit of a shock but hopefully rumour has spread throughout our friends and family and most of you know that I was robbed. Now, I don't want anyone ... read more

Nha Trang is basically 'Brits Abroad' think Magaluf and Zante and you have Nha Trang. It's a beach and cheap cheap drinks into the early hours. Spent 5 days there and did hardly anything. First two days I had man flu and didn't sleep well so kinda snoozed most of the first two days and the first night the communal bathroom for 14 beds had a clogged toilet, so the drunken Brits coming in at 3 and 4 in the morning were either peeing in the already over flowing toilet or peeing in the bath tub/shower and yes lots of loud talking and banging doors!!! 4th day I actually ventured to a little amusement park with two swedish guys (Toni and Johannes) 2 Icelandic girls (Helga and Cissa) and an aussie girl (Nakea). There were 4 ... read more

Rightly or wrongly we decided quite early on that we would judge a country by it's border crossing. Vietnam faired well. No lengthy queues, no finger print scanning (a niggle of mine) and no stern officials that make you look shifty through nerves rather than any illegal activity. Our trip from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) went well. Driving in to Saigon was a bit mental. There were bikes and mopeds everywhere, it's amazing that they don't crash in to each other let alone the big buses like ours. Instead the traffic seems to go slow enough that you can happily pull out in front of fifty motorbikes and they all steadily part letting you in to the stream of traffic. We did notice, however, there were no trusty tuk tuks on the ... read more

11th October 2010 We caught a taxi for some sightseeing and headed to the Po Nagar Cham Towers. Initially there stood ten towers which had been built by the Hindu Cham People between the seventh and twelfth centuries however, only four remain. Whilst they are somewhat weathered by time and tourism the locals still come here to pray to their God for a prosperous life. A humbling sight to see as they kneel and pray and light incense sticks as a gratuitous gesture to the Gods. Our taxi, which had patiently been waiting drove us to our next stop, the Thap Ba Hot Springs. Here we were to bath in mineral mud to sooth the ailments of western life and in-liven our skin. We were escorted to our own private mud-tub and looked on in amusement ... read more

9th - 10th October 2010 Welcome to Nha Trang We clambered off the plane and into a bus for the 40km trip from the airport to Nha Trang "City", we were pretty stoked that we were able to organise a bus ride (our first so far) as we were the only foreigners on it and it was half the price of a taxi, therefore saving us $2. I guess were starting to get into the tight-arse backpacker way of life... The bus driver must have been getting paid per horn 'toot' as he was on it more often than not and coupled with his crazy driving made for an exciting if not a little anxious trip to the sea-side town of Nha Trang. Of course we got lost on our way to finding The Golden Lotus, ... read more
