So, over the past couple of days, I've been taking a Photoshop course with a group of women from our expatriate group. I've learned a lot of cool tricks and have also learned that a trip to Pantip needs to be acccomplished ASAP so that I can upgrade from Photoshop 7.0 to CS. The magnetic lasso feature on CS has me very excited. Over the past few weeks, Thailand has been gripped with protests against the Prime Minister, which over the past few days has really caused some traffic problems. So, today during our class (on the 20th floor in the business district) we hear the sound of drums. We look out the window and saw a caravan of several trucks festooned with balloons, with drummers aboard and people around the caravan. So, thinking it was ... read more

Hey all, well we made it to Ayuthaya! on the train, we kind of miss judged the train times from the station and ended up with a 3 hour wait, never mind, made it! Just 2 hours away is Ayuthaya the old capital city of thailand before the burmese smashed it up about 200 years ago in civil war. Anyway...its very very hot here, and its hard work. We rented bikes today and yesterday to get around (about 1.50 pound a day each! ) and this was def the way to travel. we were able to visit all the "wats" (temples) and they were amazing! all ruins but still impressive, also we saw one of the massive reclining budda's ( about 50m long and 20m high). We also saw one of the biggest sitting gold budda ... read more

To give you a quick update we have arrived at the Phuket airport a little early so we figured we would get an entry in before we head back to Bangkok. We are amazed at the number of hits this blog has been getting so we would like to thank you all for keeping an eye on us! Ok, so we are in Thailand and I feel that we have not recognized the ladies that make this country such a beautiful place. Fella's, this entry is for you! Later! Dan, Cannon and Shawn ... read more

Elephant riding. What more can I say? It was just the most amazing experience! We visited the Elephant Conservation Centre near Lampang, northern Thailand today. As some of you may know, the elephant happens to be my favourite animal, therefore this was especially exciting for me. Firstly, we watched the elephants bathe, with their trainers scrubbing at them until they were squeaky clean (well, relatively less smelly at any rate!). Then they were put through their paces, showing the mesmerised audience (ok, so admittedly it was mainly me who was 'ooh-ing' and 'aah-ing') of tourists how smart this large land mammal is. Highlights included an elephant race, playing the xylophone, staping on inflated balloons to pop them, and elephant painting!! Naturally, these are all behaviours that would be displayed in the wild... But anyway, this one ... read more

Hallo allemaal Vanmiddag vanuit Cambodja weer in BKK aangekomen.

Hey,I recently went to Dreamworld a theme-park on the outskirts of Bangkok with Ou and her kid's.It was on a Friday so it gave me chance to do something other then sleeping or spending all day hungover."OOP'S" too late and after getting only 5hrs kip we were on our way to the park.Sitting in the front seat with the girl's singing in the back didn't go down to well and the urge to throw up all over the dash board was something I couldn't do,even if I tried.I knew when I got there a couple of rides would pump the adrenalin around my knackered body and I'd be sorted. The three girl's Yok,Mine and Jan were really excited and I wanted them to have a good day out so it didn't take long to get into the ... read more

I hope you enjoyed the pictures from Ko Phangan because I lost camera #2 a couple days ago. I think I left it at a restaraunt but they said they never found it. So it's too bad but I'm not buying another goddamn camera. No more pictures I guess. Anyway, I finished my advanced open water diving course. It was so much better than the beginner course. I really don't think your diving experience is complete until you are allowed to go down to 30 meters. That was awesome! There were so many more fish. And last night our last dive was at night. So they give you this flashlight and you go down totally freaked out. But it turned out to be my favorite dive. It was actually really peaceful being down there in ... read more

This may not be for the light stomach. In Asia there are two types of toilets: the asian squatter, and the one were used to. They call it in Thai the "Farang" toilet. Farang meaning foreign. A study was conducted to see which toilet was better for you and it came down to incontinence during your later years. The squatter allows the elderly in Thailand to remain continent whereas the foreigners must resort to diapers. For some reason the elderly Westerners who wear diapers are better at crossword puzzles and are more up to date with current events. Not sure if this has anything to do with the squat/sit study but its interesting nontheless. So choose your destiny. Most likely you won't have to change your own diapers anyways. Another thing on bathrooms. The standard set ... read more

After spending 4 nights at Haad Son Resort in Ko Phagnan, in what was shit accom but a nice resort (pool, beaces, restaurant) we book a 30min ferry to Ko Samui just 25km away. It was our plan to go boat/bus/boat across to Ko Lanta but we wanted to check for ourselves with the cops and the lost camera saga. We arrived at Nathon, K Samui (the main port town), got a very tidy room for 550bart (divide by 25 for NZD) and spent the rest of the day going to all the police stations and ferry terminals to enquire. I came to the verdict that the police are VERY UNINTERESTED in helping out tourists. The best I could do was leave my email and a 2,000b reward if it were to miraculously turn up. I ... read more

We arrived in Phuket yesterday via speedboat from Koh Phi Phi. This place rivals Pattaya and Bangkok as far as craziness. We have been eating the most amazing food cooked by street vendors. Our night was tame and after dinner took in 8 Muay Thai bouts at the local stadium. Today was "beach day!" Tomorrow we fly from Phuket to Bangkok were we do our final fittings on some custom suits we had made. Raja has fitted everyone from Bill Clinton to Dan Iazzetti.... read more
