After leaving Chiang Mai we went off to Ayuthaya, a city famous for its ruins (it was the capital of Thailand until the... 13th? century) to geek out a little, considering our academic backgrounds we were pretty excited. However, as a whole, Ayuthaya proved to be a bigger nuisance than anything else. Firstly, our songthaw driver didn't take us to our requested hostel, but rather feigned misunderstanding and delivered us to a guesthouse (P.U.) with the pushiest manager in the history of pushy businesspeople.
