We spent one night at Koh Lanta ( Nature Beach Resort on Klong Nin Beach, 700 THB). We had a nice dinner on the beach at the Miami Beach Restaurant. The next morning we started to Koh Lipe by boat. The boat passed from the North narrow viewfull riverlike passage towards the mainland. We paid for this six hours boat journey 1500 THB, each. On the way to Hat Yai we stopped at Koh Ngan and Koh Mook, beautifull islands. We could only take pictures from the boat. At Hat Yai in the noon time we changed to a smaller boat. There is no pier at these islands +Koh Lipe. Therefore , longtail boats take us to the land. We have found a nice resort bungalow just at the Pattaya Beach( Green View Garden Resort, 800 ... read more

Hello bloggers Well, we really enjoyed Tropic Thunder along with a few beers or in my case a few rums!! The next day picked upby taxi and taken to Haad Son to a fabulous bungalow with a swimming pool that overlooked the sea. We had four nights and really enjoyed it although it did rain for about an hour in the morning - shame! Found a wonderful restaurant called Heavenly (about 100 steps up to get to it - well 50!) good food and lovely people - great view. Apart from sitting by the pool every day and swimming (temp. about 40 degrees) went to Heavenly every evening. On our last day we were supposed to be out of the room by 10.00 and after negotitation we stayed until 4.00 without any extra payment - taxi ... read more

We arrived in Bangkok on Saturday - nearly a week ago now. Bit miffed on the flight that our online check in had been disregarded and the seats given to a BABY. I mean come on. We were far more entitled to those extra legroom numbers than a baby. They bumped us to the back - the worst seat on the plane - next to the emergency exit - where some germans felt a need to stand and speak shit about where they had been on holiday - very loudly. So in summary - CHINA AIRLINES - YOU SUCK. We stepped off the plane into the tunnel and it immediately felt cosy as Melissa would say. After a healthy 60 min wait at Thai immigration we realised - Hey this is Thai time - we are ... read more

Off to our first stop in Thailand, the island of Ko Lipe. we are picked up at 8am to be taken on a very packed mini bus to the harbour. When we arrive there we have about an hours wait for the speed boat. Once we get going the journey was about 45mins, very fast and huge waves spraying up the sides of the speed boat. We dock by a floating barge and unload our luggage and then have to load it back onto a longtail boat to take us up to the beach as the speed boats cannot get onto the beach. We are directed over to the immigration desk to reclaim our passports. Not really knowing where to go next, we couldn't find anyone to take us by boat round to our accommodation which ... read more

Hello there. It was ages since I last did a blog so I might have some trouble remembering it all but I'm sure fine detalails don't matter too much! Since the last time I blogged we were about to embark on our journey to Burma to get 15 more days in Thailand stamped on our passports. The journey was pretty tedious. It started on a night boat that just had mats along the floor where everyone had to sleep right next to eachother. I didn't have it too bad as I was between some decent Irish guy and Jay but Jay was between me and a fat Russian fella, bad times. Either way it still felt like a refugee boat! Once we got to the mainland in the morning be got some food and were put ... read more

We had to drag ourselves out of bed for breakfast. When we arrived instead of being given a menu we were told we could have anything we wanted so Matt decided to have an omelette and I asked for a pancake. There was a small table set out with coffee, toaster, fruit and cereal, and the terrace was empty apart from us. We were starting to wonder if we were the only guests there. After eating we decided to take a walk along the beach. Although we'd walked the length of it the previous night it had been too dark to see. There were still ropes strewn up the beach a few inches from the ground but at least in the daylight we could see them coming. Outside our resort the sand was made up of ... read more

After an extensive breakfast we finished our packing and took some final walks along the beach to say farewell to the squeaky sand. It was a real shame to be leaving as we could easily have spent a couple of weeks at this resort if our finances could have coped with that. Unfortunately for us they couldn’t. When it came to checking out we were pleased to see no mention of the Emerald Cave trip on the bill. We signed it off quickly and hit the pool for the last hour before a long tail was due to pick us up to take us to Charlie’s Beach where we were due to meet the speedboat. Matt was convinced that they’d felt guilty for the confusion from the previous day so had given us the trip for ... read more

After all the bustle and oddities we uncovered in Bangkok, it was finally time to head to the "relaxation" portion of the trip. The days were a bit lazier and the sun was bit hotter but it was while visiting the islands and meeting the people in Southern Thailand that I understood why they call their country "The land of smiles." Day 5 I was sad when I woke up because I knew it was time to leave Bangkok and although it might be the most polluted place I've ever been, there is more than enough to make up for it. Quickly I began to think of all the things I had wanted to do while here, trying to make sure I hadn't forgotten anything...oooh, a Thai massage!!! We found the closest massage place and signed ... read more

What a Paradise Island! We spent 11 days over Christmas and New Year on Koh Lipe - Thailand’s most southern Island. We came here by speedboat from Langkawi/Malaysia and our boarder check-in into Thailand took place in a bamboo hut on the beach. We spend most of our time with soaking up the sun at the beach, reading, eating and doing nothing. One day we went with a longboat to some of the surrounding islands, which are uninhabited and have lots of great snorkeling spots just off the beaches. We think that the photos tell more than words. Have a look and be jealous ;-) Was fuer ein Inselparadies! Die letzten 11 Tage haben wir hier auf Koh Lipe verbracht - Thailands suedlichste Insel. Wir sind per Speedboat von Malaysia nach Thailand eingereist und unseren Pass-Stempel ... read more
