started the morning off very early..considering we were out last nite (fruit shakes turned to buckets..how does that happen???) we were picked up in a ute and bumped our way over the dirt roads for 30 mins until we came to the elephants!....4 massive elephants with seats on them....i let sheree get on first coz it seriously looked like we would slip right off!!...but turns out we survived and set off trekking up the steep mountains on our elephant Tim and it was very very very slowly!! got to the top and started our trek through the jungle to see the waterfall...haha it so funny the guide had warned us that there wasnt 'much' water this time of year..but seriously our shower had more water than this waterfall..so we cracked up laughing at it when we ... read more

well we r staying in the cutest little bungalow...10 seconds from the beach..its 400 baht a nite which is the cheapest accomodation yet in thailand (thats about $16) for us both but its pretty basic alrite...a bed, mosquito net, hammock and a non-flushing toilet and shower that decides when its going to work and when its not!!..haha we r definately roughing it alrite!! its so cute here tho..sooo relaxed bars and resturants, massages all along the water make it very easy to get really lazy!! but after a very relaxing day yesterday on the beach swimming, reading, walking etc! we decided to hire a motorbike and explore the rest of the island.....so many beautiful, undiscovered places..it is awesome! hired the dogdiest bike tho and that combined with the roughest roads doesnt equal much comfort...seriously our teeth ... read more

After a quick flight I arrive in Phuket. Was there a couple of days although wasn't a great lover of it. I was stopping in Patong, I think it would be great if you were stopping in one of the posh resorts but otherwise it is over priced and very touristy (however heard some very good news hear so for that I LOVE it. So quickly left there and made my way to Ko Lanta, where I met up with Neil. Ko Lanta is lovely very chilled out, seemed to get a lot of back packers on Hat Phra Ae (Long Beach) who stop there for a while - so it’s really easy to make friends. Ended up drinking a lot hear, partying a fair bit, dancing a lot with lady boy’s, and watching Neil and ... read more

The day started at 8am... We jammed our stuff in our bags and then set out for the dock to hire a long boat for 3hrs.... We went straight across to Kho Phi Phi Lay, were we saw some huge caves and stopped in a little bay with crystal clear waters to snorkel. Our driver through bread in the water just as we were about to get in and fish suddenly emergerd from everywhere! We had a great time the were eating out of our hands and sometimes even eating our hands.... And they looked just like they do in the pictures, bright and beautiful colours and so many different varieties! Then we were off to the famous Maya Bay where the beach was filmed! and it still looks gorgeous. We also snorkeled around that bay ... read more

We arrived at the pier and were talked into staying at a place called Andaman Bay Bungalows, this was situated at the southern end of Long Beach. First impressions were not great but we decided to stay for one night. This is probably the worst accomodation we've had. The wooden hut wasn't bad but the bathroom was horrid. There was coral for a floor, a shabby tin surround and the water had a lovely brown tinge to it! Needless to say, showering was only done when absolutly necessary! It only took us a few swings in the hammock to feel settled. Theres definately something about having a little place on the beach swinging in a hammock, listening to the sound of the sea. That night we went for a stroll on the beach, which was very ... read more

Thanks again for the messages, keep them coming. After lots of research we decided to travel two thirds of the way down Ko Lanta to Kantiang Bay as we really fancied some peace and quiet. We booked into Lanta Marine Park View and got a bungalow which was OK and clean (bathroom a little basic), but with a stunning view over the bay, a long stretch of soft sand. We settled down to sleep and discovered at midnight that this really wasn't the place for peace and quiet as we were sandwiched between 3 bars (one belonging to our resort) which had escalated in volume. A complaint to our bar didn't go down well and after a sleepless night, when we discovered we were also sharing the bungalow with the most enormous cockroach (which is no ... read more

HI all, Dick and Mary arrived yesterday from Phuket and we had dinner with them at their bungalow restaurant. It was just a week ago we left Phuket and it seemed like a lot longer, life is so laid back here you forget what day it is the minute you step off the boat. D&M had been down to Trang to set up the scholarship for Fadila with a friend of Gary Vaughns. I won't spoil Dicks fun by telling you what he ate, I will just say that I am in awe of his gustutorial prowess. Mary had to deal with some typical banking bullshit, it seems that if you are not a corporation or a bigshot palm greaser, the laws make it tough to move money internationaly, she was able to make it work ... read more

Hi everyone who has been wondering where in the hell I have been. I have had a hard time trying to get my images resized to get them to download at a fast rate, being just computer literate enough to be dangerous, it has been an unwanted learning experience but hopefully now I can get the images down loaded. We had a great time at Khao Lak, I was impressed at how it has recovered so far, not 100% for sure but they have rebuilt many operations and others are in the process. The hard hit areas are still very quiet, few resorts have rebuilt north of Bang Niang beach which was hit hardest, we stayed at Nang Thong beach and it was about 75% rebuilt and if you did not see it before you would ... read more
